2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 11/9/12, as Hoodoo Kolsch
Aroma: The nose is light and clean, some grass, mild fruity notes, and some grains
Appearance: It pours a slightly hazed golden-orange color with a small white head
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, it is lightly sweet and lightly bitter
Palate: The feel is light-medium, it has a lively carbonation, and a nice, clean finish
Not a terrible beer, but nothing super exciting either. I wasn’t a huge fan overall.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Pours straw to pale gold with modest white head. Mild, bright aroma of grapefruit and hay. Flavor is crisp, tart grape and green apple. Slight hop presence. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. Thin mouthfeel, light bodied. Haven’t had many Kolsch style beers, but this reminds me of an English bitter. Crisp and refreshing, but one-dimensional.

Hoodoo kolsch. Biscuity, nice grassy aroma. Strong straw, salted crackers, dried tea leaf flavor with dry body, clean. Very nice and refreshing, but very pilsner-esque in the late clean bitterness.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pint at Tribeca tavern. Ok aroma, grassy, Biscuity. Can’t tell color because of ceramic mug, ok head, no lace. Bitter flavor. Light body, watery mouthfeel, bitter finish. Ok easy to drink, nothing exciting, nothing offensive.

Golden yellow color with a soapy white head. Aroma of grain, grass, and funk. Grain flavor with some citrus. Not one of the smoother I’ve had in this style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a nice golden yellow with a fair sized head that stayed nicely. Upfront aroma was of cut grass with some hints of fruit and citrus. By smooth in the mouth, with little jump in the carbonation, which was nice. Flavors were of the flowery hops with a good, complex sweetness from the malts that I couldn’t quite place. Overall a very well-balanced and refreshing brew.

Not bad, my first Kolsch. Not sure why I never desired to try one until now. Looks like I may not of picked the best one. Refreshing and very drinkable. Mostly grainy flavors.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle pours a clear orange with a bit of a head. Light in every way, but in a good way. Balance of light hops, bitter, floral, and malt. As sessionable as they come.
