Two weeks ago the guys at Uinta decided to try something new, take one batch of Wyld Extra Pale and do a special, one of a kind edition. For this special edition Uinta acquired a shload of fresh Simcoe hops, enough to average 4lbs of hops per barrel of beer ( 1 beer barrel = 31 gallons). The result, we hope is one citrusy, resinous and sessionable sombitch! The "wet" in Wet n’ Wyld refers to the state of the hops. Most hops are dried to eliminate weight and spoilage, these are fresh off the vine, wet as nature made them. Wet n’ Wyld is draft only (no bottles) and will be available at the breweries pub and those pubs and bars that tend to give a shit about good local beer.

Tap at beer study. Pours orange amber with a steady white foam. Nose is freshly cut grass, wacky tobacky, herbal, earth and pine. Flavor is similar. Palate is a little thin, but that can be expected with a low abv pale. Solid wet hop beer.

On tap at Paradiso Dupont. Pours a clear orange with some cloudy white head. Nose of orange, a little garbage, malt, vegetal. Flavor is sweet, malt, spice, orange, carrot, honey. Clean finish. Nose is not good but overall ok.

This was really tasty. Bright hops, green citrus notes. Light on the palate. Really astounding that a simple pale is this good. And @ 4% sooo sessionable. I’ll be stoked to try this again.

Light straw bonde pour with one finger white head. Nose is very nice, pineapple and citrus with some fruity overtones. Very hoppy with pine apple at the front of the mouth. Flavor wraps up nicely with a very light bitterness.

Tap @ Belmont Station... Poured golden/amber with a nice retaining, white head. Easy drinking pale ale. Good hop character with a bready malt balance. Some esters too along with a citrus hop spice. Nothing too crazy going on here, but a great session brew.

12oz can pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a nice off white head. The aroma offers up citrus hop notes, a light sense of dry malts, a sliver of lime and a faint earthy tea note. The taste is pretty crisp. I get citrus grapefruit and tangerine mixing with a lightly roasted malt note and then it seems to grow into a faint earthy black tea like hoppiness. Into the finish a mild cereal malt graininess joins and takes this into the after taste. Nice Pale. Just the right amount of depth yet plenty refreshing and sessionable.

On tap at Sam’s, Durham, sometime last fall. Golden orange pour, minimal carbonation, just a few apple juice bubbles. Sharpish nose, more lemongrass bite than the pungency of most wet hops I’ve had. Occasional sweetness in the taste, but a lot more leafy and sharply bitter notes. Decent brew, but wasn’t crazy about it.

on draft and i hope this is the right beer i drank. they called it wyld extra pale. but had kind of a belgium funky yeast on the nose along with some hop action. weird combo. poured a hazy yellow color with white head. it was a citrus hop aroma. flavor was a touch sour and citrus hop and funk. decidely different and i dont think this is a real style but hey this is my opinion only. not one i would search out.
