3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottles July 2009; Sampled March 2010
An aggressive pour into my 25cl tulip glass produces three fingers of frothy, off-white colored head. The beer is a gold hue that shows an almost brilliantly clear, light straw-gold color when held up to the light. The aroma has a nice citrus hop component to it that mixes pleasingly with a floral, peach like fruitiness. Underneath this expressive hop character is a hint of cracker-like malt character. Based on the nose, this is my kind of Pale Ale.
Fairly dry tasting, which really subdues the expressive hop frutiness found in the aroma. The beer is quite light as well, which makes this eminently quaffable and something I would mind as a cool refresher on a hot Summerís day. Herbal hop notes and a touch of pine, as well as solid bitterness all play a big role here in the flavor. I am not sure that they are bigger than the citrus / fruit flavors, but b/c these are so subdued as compared the the aroma, I seem to notice the others first. Still there is a solid hop character that contributes flavors of tangerine, expressive lychee, and even some floral peach notes, each of which becomes more apparent as my palate adjusts and as the beer warms up. Cracker like grain notes become more noticeable as the beer warms, and there is also a soft, honey-like grain quality that comes out as well; this last is definitely accentuated by the floral hop notes.
This is actually a pretty damn solid Pale Ale; I wasnít expecting much here, but this is actually quite good and I would happily while away a hot afternoon with a couple bottles of this on hand. I could wish for just a hint more body and malt character perhaps (as this would boost the fruity hop flavors), but then that would kill how light, refreshing and easy drinking this beer is.

Yellow pour with an crazy big white head. Aroma is smelly. Some light lemon and soapy hops. Flavor is a bit better...not much. Way too much carbonation. Light lemon notes and some watered down caramel malt. Meh.

Bottle at The Brickskeller, Washington DC
Hazy blond color. Strange aroma: dirty water, hazelnuts, very light vanilla, light orange peel, yellow grapes; interesting. The mouthfeel is weak, the flavor is poor, quite dry, quite bitter, with a touch of citrus. Below average.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Wine and Beer Westpark, 12/14/09
Aroma: It has some sweet citrus, some grass, a bit of honey, some cereal
Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a bubbly white head and drippy lace
Flavor: Fairly mild, has some light sweetness with a funky grassy bitterness
Palate: This beer is pretty light and thin, with soft carbonation
This beer is alright, not a ton going on, fairly mild on all assets, but not bad. I didnít love it but it is works as a session beer. Hereís the truth, this isnít anything special, but itís still a decent beer, has a little flavor, worth drinking, though it isnít totally memorable. It is clean and refreshing at least

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin off white, lasting head, over a clear yellow (SRM 5) body.....nose is light pine and grapefruit......taste starts with light cereal, very light malty sweet (toffee), leading to light pine and grapefruit bitterness.....mouth feel is medium, as is carbonation. This is a pleasant, slightly light, not overly complex beer. Tasting of 11/27/09.
