Toasty, medium caramel, and lightly sweet flavor and aromas. Nice balance of malt characteristics. Some herbal hop flavor. Light to moderate bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deer Valley Resort. Bottle. Nice reddish color with smell of sweetness to it. Malt was there along with some dried fruity taste. Not much of head retention. Thin mouthfeel. Not bad, but not great either

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. No clue who sent me this... maybe I bought it. Pours a cloudy amber with a medium head and a little bit of lacing. Looks rather boring. Toasty, malty nose with slight hop, but not much. Flavor gets much better with 2nd and 3rd drink. Nice and biting with a dry finish. This is a good and crisp beer that I believe fits the style well and is a fine brew. Body is of course light, but nice brisk carbonation. Good stuff.

Carmel and fresh dough on the nose. A really pleasant beer overall. Slightly dry yet creamy, very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is an interesting red winter lager, yeasty and a bit of chocolate. Bottle pours a dark red-brown with a medium white head. Taste is nutty-malt and finishes almost like a light stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
What can I say? It’s a bit toasty lager! Its nose is full of caramelly and malty sweetness. It has a beautiful color: golden-amber with barely off-white head. Mthere is no hop aroma and not much bitterness, though it does have a slightly vegetal kick(...my first thought was ’asparagus’). But it is what it is, a lager.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2003 (24Feb2003--re-rate) Much improved. Same positive comments on the flavor.
More reasonable head and persistent effervescence this time. Still not outstanding, but not bad.
first selection from my "beer of the month".
The quintessential "average beer"; not much going on, but without major faults.
Pours with an enormous (slightly distressing) rocky head, light amber in color, spongy, slowly receding, lacy.
Beer has a deep amber color.
Very light aroma; little to no hop presence, dominant crystal/chocolate malt.
Effectively no real malt presence in the palate, except for a touch of the chocolate/crytal malts, fairly sweet, little to no bitterness.
Despite the huge, rocky head, there is little real effervescence, giving the beer has a relatively thin mouthfeel.
Utah brewers are hamstrung by the max 4% ABV limitation, but they nontheless usually try commendably to produce real beer.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear redish brown thick head that diminishes quick. Mild carbonation. Smells malty Carmely and sweet little earthiness. Very light and easy to drink. Little sticky on the tounge. Not a bad beer on the back porch in the heat.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Don’t know if I got a bad batch or what, but this may be the worst beer I’ve had from a Utah craft brewer. I’d rather drink BMC than this. Terrible both in aroma and flavor.
