André Paeleman refers to this blond beer with a fruity, bitterish taste, as a "living tripel from Wetteren". It is brewed with pilsener malt, oats, two types of hops and a herb. The name "Uitzet" comes from the beer of the same name that was brewed in 1730 by the publican and brewer Verstraete.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2006 I slowly removed the cork to a chilled 750ml bottle from Belgium. Pours a light golden color with a small alabaster head. Predominantly sweet with a light citrus/fruity taste. Yeasty. Alcohol bite.

750ml Bottle, no USA markings: Hazy light orange with a thin white head, musty oranges, sour cherry in the aroma, oily body, harsh alcohol. Starts and ends sweet.

Bottled [BB 09/2007]. Hazy pale orange, huge cloudy off-white head, very good lacing. A spicey, hoppy, fruity, slightly alcoholic aroma. Fresh-lemony, slightly alcoholic flavor. Bitterness is short, palate could be stronger but otherwise world class "session" triple.

Draught. Orange-gold with a large fluffy white head and lacing. The aroma has lots of yeast - pear fruits, bread, biscuit, and cookies. Standard fare for a tripel - cookie sweetness, sugary, cereal, and then quite a bit of dusty pear. Short finish with grainy alcohol warmth. A nice drinkable Tripel. Tried this at Bier Circus, Brussels on May 29, 2006.

Draft. Golden/amber colored body. Tall light gold head. Nose is semi-sweet with malt notes, flowers, yeast, some candy notes. Taste is slightly bitter, mild herbal notes at the start continuing into Belgian yeast notes, ripened fruits (light banana, pear and a hint of green apple), and a bit of alcohol. Body is is bubbly with a big carbonation feel to it and a medium overall feel. Finishes with sweet malts, flowery bitterness, light honey, and fruit notes.

750ml. bottle. Took the cage off and let the bottle sit on the counter while making a sandwich. Cork flew off on it’s own, scaring the hell out of me. Almost like it was daring me to drink it. Hazy golden color with a fairly thick white head. Sweet citrus and yeast aroma that was very inviting. Flavor starts off mildly sweet, with lots of yeast, citrus and a bit of malt before a nice hoppy bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

thanks to HOPDOG for bringing this to egajdzis’ tripelfest. a very sweet, apple laced aroma, with some spices mixed in coming off a cloudy pale yellow body with a creamy white head. tastes of apple, lemon, spices and yeast along with a candi sugar vein create a smooth tasting medium body with an excellent balance and a sweet aftertaste. this was one of my favorites of the afternoon.
