Starts mild, too mild for a so called marzen. Mild malty with wheaty notes, modest dry. Mild hoppy background. Finish well balanced, mild, grasy-wheaty. Not really convincing.

(bottle, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Clear, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Mildly biscuity malty aroma with light hints of butter and a tinge of herbal hops in the background. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly buttery malty taste with notes of biscuits, caramel and a delicate but rounded herbal hops character; moderately dry and bitter hoppy finish with biscuity malt in the aftertaste. Bouteille (X-mas greetings from the Lake of Constance!): Golden, lazy carbonation, mid-sized to small white stable head, dryish bisquity-grainy nose, distinctive hoppy background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, chewy MF, light to medium bodied; slightly lingering hoppy and pale-malty finish. Chapeau! A well crafted session beer....

bottle from Ulmer Münster’s stall at Ulm Christmas Market 2012. Clear golden colour with a small, but persistent white head. Lovely hop aroma with a touch of fruit. Low but pleasant carbonation, well lagered character. Medium-bodied, solid malty base with a bready touch, bitter aromatic hops with a herbal-grassy character tune in. Bitter sweet overall character. In a blind tasting I would have swron this is a Czech 12° pale lager - very, very Bohemian in its character, i.e. a very good lager from a rural southern German brewery.
