Malziger, weinartiger Geruch, Trauben. Süßer Start ins Geschehen. Süßmalzige Mitte, Schokolade, weinartig, kaum Alkohol. Abgang dichtmalzig, schwer und süß. Überraschend liquide, könnte aber noch komplexer sein. Ansonsten recht gut.

Pours dark brown and murky with an audible fizziness. Rich smell of milk chocolate, bread, malty cereals and lots of things that are great to eat. Thick palate too and good balance sweet/bitter. Quite luxurious really.

Brownish beer with a lot of sediment and a nice beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, with roasted malts and a bit alcohol. Flavour is very soft, medium sweet, yeasty and the alcohol is very well hidden and only comes to the surface when the beer warms up a bit. Very nice brew. (Bottle 33cl)

The head is ok, body brown and cloudy. It smells malty, darkmalty, alcoholic. The taste is yeasty, alcoholic, not the best alcoholic taste, strange. Drinkable. 11/8/8/7/12/8

With the selection of higher gravity beers not that diverse at the time I chose to go with a continental offering. This is a very well made Belgian strong ale that fits the style instead of trying to be some sort of novelty. I would drink a couple more Ecaussinnes beers if they are not too expensive.

Aroma / Appearance - A creamy chestnut body is thick like melted chocolate or stained maple syrup watered down to be drinkable. The creamy legs add to a satisfying presence. Chestnuts, figs, almonds, and Hershey’s chocolate are heady and sweet like a glass of true hot chocolate. Traces of Granny Smith apples hide in the background.

Flavor / Palate - Carbonated hot chocolate and apple cider refresh the throat. Caramel, honey, and warm Hershey’s kisses melt on the tongue. There is a boozy aspect which is not shocking for a 10% ABV beer. This might be a better example of the style than most.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear red color, medium sized, quickly diminishing off-white to beige head. Smell malts, sweetness and a touch of herbs a spices. Taste malts, sweetness, some alcohol and again some herbs of spices. Medium and a bit fizzy carbonation, medium to full body. Nice beer, though the carbonation does make me not want more than a single bottle per night.

Bottle @ benzai. Brown to ruby colour with a medium beige head. Smells herbs, malts, some alcohol. Tastes sweetish, some herbs, raisins, malts, some liquorice. Full body, warming to the chest, medium to heavy carbo.
