Bottle. Its been a while since i’ve had a Belgian strong like this. Strong, candy and caramel flavour. Strong yeasty acidity, lightly tart. Some blackcurrant in the finish. Quite assertive.

Bottled bought at The Green Man Stamford. A deep brown coloured beer with a nice off white head. The aroma is sugary with malt and a little fruit. The taste is really nice with lots of candy sugar, malts and alcohol. There is a real smooth consistency to the beer which adds to the fact it is very tasty and full bodied.

hazy dark red-brown colour with a big foamy head, nice lacing, exhuberent aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and licorice, oily and medium-bodied, sweet with some sourness, the finish is bitter/sourish, quite malty and spicy - original but unbalanced and quite cloying

haukur (1010) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - AUG 16, 2004
dark brown, yeasty aroma with some candy and liquorice in the aroma. Taste is just TOOOOOO sweet, first sips were almost undrinkable, it gets alot better while worming up but the dominant sweetness probably from candysugar, was to much for me

Deep brown color with a tan head that holds well. The aroma is fine and delicate like a belgian chocolate. The flavor is rich and malty boasting of chocolate malts without any astingincy. There is a fair amount of bitterness that seems very appropriate however, there is something a bit out of balance between the amount of bitterness and the level of sweetness. A great stand alone desert beer, comprable to a rochefort or westvlateren.
