Bright clear amber color. Fruity aroma that gets better as it warms. Nice balanced bitterness. Not overly soapy or medicinal at all. Enjoyable - would have again!

Oct 23, 2007 Pours a rich amber/brown color, with a bit of cloudiness and a nice creamy offwhite head. Smell is exactly like I like in my IPA/IIPAs. Big fruity hops, citrus and some pine jumping out of the glass and into my nose. Tastes delicious. Gummy apricot flavors come to mind. Juicy, fruity, and very easy drinking. More like a strong IPA, than a double, and the balance makes this divine. Different than the West Coast IIPAs but I prefer the lusciousness and drinkability of this. Awesome beer!

Oct 18, 2007 Yeehaw. When I saw the name, thought this might be a mistaken entry for a dopplebock. Perhaps it’s Brian’s nod to the nomenclature in the double portion of the show. No idea what the ABV is, but doesn’t taste of high octane even though it may well be. Not as syrupy/malty sweet like some. But the hops sure as hell shine through and through. A texas style IIPA? What the hell, it’s good and I want more.
Dark amber, but not super dark. Hell, the light at night ain’t so great and I’m less inclined to care about coloration over taste and it has taste and then some.

Oct 15, 2007 A couple of new arrivals at Uncle Billys over the weekend. The coffee stout is gone, and there’s a smoked porter, a bitter, and a double IPA now available. Being a glutton for hops, I went with the double IPA and wasn’t disappointed. It was excellent. To any out of towners visiting Austin looking to try some delightful brews, Uncle Billys is a gem of a place worth seeking out.
