Dirty amber color. Earthy malt smell that reminds me of old figs. Not much flavor or bitterness or depth for that matter. Figs in the flavor as well. A bit weak bodied - but not awful. Overall - just completely average. fly (1245), austin, Tejas, USA Nov 6, 2007 Totally weird (for me) in that I so often get so little from the aroma, but this one came off as being much like a beer mashing in - brewhouse smell and then some. Was almost afraid of the first sip, but not to worry - whatever was going weird in aromaville got left behind. Hops take the front seat, somewhat thin bodied, but plenty enough to carry it.
Not my favorite brew, but enjoy Brian throwing more in the mix. lb4lb (1439), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 23, 2007 Updated: Oct 28, 2007Glowing slightly cloudy orange pour with a small but nice white head atop. Smell is somewhat subtle as to be expected in an English pale, but some fruity apricot like hops are noticeable. Perhaps a touch of earthiness to them too. Taste is mild, but similar fruity flavors come through. Nice hop presence for an EPA, mild sweetness, and while not a robustly flavored beer, it didn’t bore me at all like most of the style. Good mouthfeel, well crafted, and easily my favorite example of the style. Yet to have a bad beer at Uncle Billy’s, and this place is a must visit for some nice craft beers when in town.
