3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled @ Uncle Billys BrewCue. Aroma had a sweet frutiy nose. Bronse colored body with off white head and some lacing. Fruity flavor but seemed to have a stong malt presence that thicken the body of beer. Dry not to bitter on the palate a filling beer felt like I had a brick in my gut after this one.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fantastic offering from the number 5 tap (yet again). Darker pour than typical IPAs, with zesty rye and plenty of bitter hoppiness. Extremely drinkable and it packs a kick. Really nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2008 Deep black cherry, opaque, colored brew, 1.5 inch head. Strong aroma of hops and light sugars. Smell like amarillo and cascade hops, really good. Medium, thick, sticky mouthfeel. The flavor will kill you with hops. Must be very expensive to brew. This one would make it to India unspoiled, no problem. A little bite on the back end, and a little bit of sugar in the afteraste. It laces the glass like your grandmother’s most beautiful quilt. Very bitter to the untrained observer, very delicious to this kid.
It has a distinct barrell-aged hickory- alcohol flavor addition. There is a dark fruit apple taste as well. The mouthfeel is increasingly alcoholic and has woody overtones. The finish is bittersweet.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2008 Wow, what can I say other than I wish they’d make this a regular staple... Pours a rich murky chocolate shade with suspended particles and a small head atop. Smell is big fresh, bold hops, and loads of rye. Very aromatic and inviting. Taste is hoppy, and strongly of rye zestiness and a bold biting flavor, and incredibly drinkable. Reminds me of Bear Republics Hop Rod Rye, but I found this to have a sharper rye flavor and more satisfying crisp biting bitterness. I loved this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thick murky mud brown with no head and looks like a frozen slushy soda with the thickness. Smell is light but has a nice sweet hop aroma. Great flavor of crisp hops. There is a zesty rind-like bitterness that is unique - takes a little while to get used to the rye flavor. Palate is smooth. Overall, another great brew - unique and flavorful.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Seriously hopped and very enjoyable. The rye may be more pronounced than I know, but having a cold was glad to be able to have a beer that was aggressive enough to get past my muted senses. Will be looking forward to seeing if I can gat back before it’s gone to see if my opinion changes, but imagine I would only wind up liking it more.
