2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy, kinda opaque dark golden with a thin creamy white head as if it had been poured on nitro. Aroma of typical wheat beer tones with a bit of bread and a wee touch of banana flavoring. Flavor was kinda weird and creamy with a little too much bread doughy yeastiness, accompanied by sweet pale malts, wheaty tones, stale orange peel, and a touch of pre-ripe banana. Just not a good Hefeweizen, but at least more enjoyable than some of the other offerings.

Poured out a cloudy yellow .. decent foam, some sticky clinging lacing .. . light and airy (hairy?) .. . really more an american wheat from the feel of it .. . Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam.

Draft sampler at Uncle Buck’s Brewery and Steakhouse in Grapevine, Texas (suburban Dallas) on July 25, 2011. Cloudy orange/yellow color, spicy aroma with strong clove notes as well as banana, very small white head, light to moderate flavor that’s like the aroma only significantly lighter on the clove. Good for a style that’s not my favorite. The waitress told me that this batch was intentionally lighter on the clove, which is probably why I liked it. True hefeweizen enthusiasts might not, though.

Pours a cloudy yellow color, about what you would expect from a hefeweizen. The smell is strong banana with a little clove. So far so good. The taste is where things start to go wrong. The flavor is definitely banana, which is to be expected, but it was way too strong. This tasted like banana juice. There were no cloves, malt or hops in the flavor. Just banana. Not recommended.
