Bottle. Dark brown with a little froth on top. Dark fruit aroma, blending with chocolate and berries. Tart sour berries flavours, some bitter chocolate flavours, dryish finish. A nice mild.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Brown 500ml bottle-conditioned example, best before End of July 2008, drank 19th Aug 2008, a bit later than the brewery wanted me to drink it!
The label asked me to serve it cool not cold (11-13 degrees C), so I did.
Poured into a pint sleeve glass it showed a dark, deep Ruby body with not much of a wispy tan head above. the head soon just became a collar around the glass, but at least it stayed the whole drink.
The first aroma was of cooking apples with extra sour tones, this gave way to some malty smells as the beer warmed.
The taste was a mixed bag of Balsamic Vinegar, Root Liquorice and off Dark Chocolate.
Not smooth or rich, this is a 5.6% dark ale that is closer to semi-skimmed milk than it is to full cream.
Overall not too impressed. I have three more beers from this brewery to review, I hope they get better because I hate to put down the little guy. Maybe the BBD was very accurate and the 19 days over the top effected the beer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle picked up at Jet Garage, Grove Near Wantage, Oxon, 08-09-08 Pours almost black fading to brown at the edges with hardly any head at all. Slightly sour tasting but backed up with goodly dose of sweet dark fruits, tastier than expected, and thank god I never read these ratings before I took the plunge, not a world beater admittedly but it was ok.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Dark brown with an off-white head. Fruity and sour aroma. So I guess this was supposed to have a tart fruity flavour? I found it acidic and unpleasant.
