COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s a simple fact of life: bacon makes everything better. From eggs to ice cream, delicious bacon is turning up just about everywhere, Our uncommon contribution to this cured pork renaissance is the Bacon Brown Ale. This is a West Coast Nut Brown Ale brewed with toasted buckwheat and a generous serving of bacon-cured pork.

Pounder can from Blue Dog. Pours clear mahogany with big 3-finger tan head. Nose is vienna malt, earthy brown sugar, perhaps a bit of bacony nose, some hops, and mild smoky wafts. Tastes a bit sweet, with vienna malt, some brown sugar, rauchy notes, and a solid complexity. I don’t get much salty or bacony flavor here, but there is a palate complexity element that is unmistakeable. This one is interesting and very quaffable.

500ml can pours an almost clear reddish brown with off-white head and a little lacing. Smells mostly of roasted malts. Aroma has a little smoky bacon, but some ordinary hops and malts. Body is medium with average carbonation. Tastes neither bitter nor sweet but slightly salty without a finish somewhere between cardboard and aluminum.. If you want a great bacon beer, try Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche Doppelbock instead of this.

16oz can 5/23/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove Singles Rack)-46° in Mug-Pours a dark brown with a huge tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, and a little bacon. Taste of the same with some hops. This medium bodied brew is not bad but with the name I was expecting a whole lotta bacon.
