THOUGHTS: Unusual beer for a can. Quite Belgian. The poppy seeds seemed to detract from a nice beer. I thought Iíd really enjoy this one, but I almost couldnít finish it. It tasted nice, but the aftertaste was what put me off. Once the bottom of the can was poured in it improve slightly because it added more fruit flavors and covered some of the unpleasant one, but it was still there. TECHNICAL: Can. Poured a hazy, dark yellow to light orange with a small, ever so slightly off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma had moderate light bread, toasted malt, and nutty malt; light to moderate cobweb, fruity, spice and dust yeast; pear; peach; pineapple; apricot; honey; light fruits; and slight burnt rubber. I think it was the poppy seeds, but to me it smelled a little like burnt rubber or an electrical fire. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, slight to lightly bitter and lightly acidic. There was honey, candy sugar, something like burnt rubber or electrical fire, toasted malt, peaches, pears, apricots, canned fruit syrup, spicy yeast, dusty yeast and metallic hops. The light to medium body was syrupy then oily and a little dry with tingly carbonation and a chalky, dry, lightly astringent and slightly metallic finish.

"this golden ale has a nice sweet, floral and herbal aroma, is light-medium bodied, and quite easy drinking. Nothing spectacular, but the sweetness and mellow belgian yeast go well together."

Aromas of butter, spiceless baked apples, cereal. Yellow, mostly lasting white head. Dry, the flavor of bland peanut butter, subtle spice. Light bodied, doughy. Bleh.

Aromas of cider and alc. Pale golden champaign body and white bubbly head. Tastes like dry citrus and poppies. Crisp and dry on the palate.

Aromas of cooked or fermented apples, very sweet apple juice from concentrate, and syrup. Sweet. Nutty. Bananas, apples and sort of a lemony flavor.

Really janked up can. Someone must have dropped it. The bottle shop owner didnít charge me for it, which is good because I thought I already rated it. Good karma. Rich honey and lemon nose. Cloudy amber, headless. Much less prominent honey flavor, applecore. A surge of dandelion, sudden but neither strong nor distinct. Raw potato finish. Despite the can being compromised, there was still carbonation, soft and unseen. Sessionable and unique.

Tap at Crafty Crow, Nottingham. Hazy gold. Film of white head. Ripe banana. Clove. Light toffee. Taste is light sweet, turning dry. Light chew on the palate, but feels clean. Finish is dry, with a light bitterness.

Pours a murky, dark honey-golden color with a short-lived white head with a greenish hue. Green grape nose. Full mouthfeel that ends up feeling a little dry. Pickled corn that starts out mildly sweet but gets funky toward the finish.

Rated fr0m a can-full... p0ured int0 a glass, 0f c0urse. It had a slightly hazed yell0w b0dy with 0range tints, plenty 0f fast m0ving bubbles, and a m0dest (but sustained) creamy head. The ar0ma was faint - h0ney, grain, lem0n... kind 0f t0nicy. The flav0r, t00, was light - mildly sweet grain, a dash 0f lem0n, and a very mild earth and zest bitterness. Iím n0t really sure what the p0ppy added, but itís n0t a bad warm weather (0r s0 Iím imagining, in this p0lar Chicag0 Winter) brew.
