Our Rubidus Red Ale is quickly becoming a favorite around the brewery. A deep copper red, brewed with maple sugar, and the most uncommon addition of Candy Cap mushrooms. If you don’t know what Candy Caps are, ask someone who does. The smile on their face should explain everything. This beer is a savory red ale with a bloom of maple aroma, 7.8% ABV.

On tap at West Coast Brew Fest. Pours reddish amber with a thick beige head and a funky smoked malt aroma. There is a sweet malt flavor with a slightly bitter finish.

On tap at Crowbar. Hazy red copper. Sweet fruity caramel throughout, not very balanced. Disappointing.

Draft. The initial aroma for me was chocolate but my second pass that was gone. I started to get more of a well toasted malts aroma with an artificial sweet maple taste (think cheap syrup). I also noticed that it had some weird earth quality that I could put my finger on which I later foundout was the mushroom they added. I wasn’t super impressed by this beer but, then again, I didn’t know what I was drinking had some unique ingredients.

Pours dark amber with a thin, tan head. Nose is syrupy maple with light vanilla notes. Flavor is sweet, like something you want on your pancakes. Medium body, mild carbonation. Tasty brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center Denver 18/09/2010 Fruity and slightly sour aroma. Amber coloured with a little sweet honey flavour. A hint of bitterness and dryness in a mushroom flavoured finish.

Easily one of the strangest brews i’ve ever had, thanks Kyle .. . Pours a dark gold .. . mushrooms, in a beer? ..it works in such a weird way, not overpowering or messy but small samples seem best .. .
it’s not dark, you’re misunderstanding me, bro. ..- Yeah, you are. Because if the girl said ’no’, then the answer is obviously ’no’. But the thing is she is not gonna say no. She would never say ’no’, ..because of the ..implication...

Tap at West Coast Brew Fest 2010. This is wild. Pours reddish with a huge foamy beige head. Aromas of celery? and maple syrup. Medium body; mild carbonation. Flavor is maple malt. Veg aspects. Way different. The veg stayed with my mug. Hard to leave it behind. Different but good beer.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a nice cream colored head. Sweet brown sugar, maple, and mollases aroma. Earthy flavor with malt and a light sweetness. Medium bodied. Earthy and maltiness lingers with light maple flavored cotton candy.

Very interesting brew. These guys continuously come up with eyebrow raising recipes, and most of them work. This one pours dark amber with a small but lasting beige head. The aroma is light maple syrup with a distinct earthiness. The flavor is a tad sweet and syrupy with mushrooms and earth. It slowly becomes more vegetal and herbal with a hint of weed. Not great, but not bad.
