COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Belgian-style double brewed with a traditional coriander, and an uncommon addition of kaffir lime and lemongrass. An amber body, rich, flavorful, absolutely delicious, and entirely too drinkable for a beer that’s 8.5% ABV.

473 mL can. Pours dark amber brown with zero head. Leaves no lacing. Caramel and spice aromas, with subtle notes of lime leaf and lemongrass. Bready caramel malt and slight hop bitterness on the finish. Sweet and rich, sticky, coating mouthfeel, moderate carbonation and a bit of booze. Too sweet for me, would like to see more of that citrus zip. Good idea, bad execution?

It pours auburn with copper highlights, and is translucent; the head is beige and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: toffee, biscuit, roasted malts, toast, raisins, and slight citrus-zest. The taste is medium sweet that finishes light bitter; there are notes of: lime-zest, coriander, toffee, caramel, and raisins. The palate is medium-heavy bodied, has medium-light carbonation, is slightly sticky, and has a long finish. Overall, the addition of kaffir lime and lemongrass are almost undetectable - regardless, it is a strong brew.

The aroma of this hit me right away as soon as I opened the can. Citrus & hop. Flavour is a nice mellow blend of carmels, mild citrus and hop. The sweetness of it I find overpowers the subtle flavours of the beer. There is also a bit of a noticeable alcoholicness to it.

473 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a red-tinged dark brown with modest-sized light tan head. Aroma is bready malt with sweet, dark fruit, Belgian yeast and some spicing. Flavour is lightly toasty bread, prunes and dates, light citrus and a modest warm spiciness. Some alcohol warmth in finish. Different, but nice.

Deep brown pour, small white head. Sweet, bready aroma, light nutiness, and some dark fruits. Flavour is quite sweet, almost cloying. Light bitterness with a mildly fruity finish with little evidence of the indicated ingredients. Quite boozy and way too sweet. Not my bag.

Can- pours a deep copper clear ale with beautiful ruby highlights - a hard pour gives you a 2 finger rocky cap that reduces to a surface lace. aroma is really interesting/unique sweet toasty malt tones with some dark dried fruit but then some bright citrus undertones and Belgian yeast funk. Flavour approximates a dubbel but is a bit dryer - big toasty lightly sweet malt in front light hopping but some fruit and citrus and soft spicing - finish goes a bit drier with a string roast after taste. Interesting and smooth for a big ale, quite warming but drinkable.

Pours cola colour with little bit of beige head that dissipates almost completely in a few seconds, but is still well-carbonated. Aroma is floral, with some licorice. Large mouthfeel that is hard to identify. I think I get a bit of the lime in the aftertaste but otherwise pretty middle of the road taste profile - but still a decent brew.

473 mL can. Never had a double from a can before. Never had a double with lime and lemongrass in it before, either. It wouldn’t occur to me that citrus would work with a double. This one is the right colour, although there is very little head. Mostly dates and prunes in the nose, but there is a hint of sweet lemon. The dried, sweet fruit is there, and prominent, in the flavour, as well. The citrus is subtle, and comes in at the end, cutting some of the sweetness. Low carbonation. Interesting, but too sweet.

Poured from a can. Murky reddish brown color, nice off-white frothy head. Strong lemon grass smell. Medium body, taste like mixing lime, tequila and beer, not bad but unique.
