IrishBoy (2243), Bakersfield, California, USA Oct 17, 2008 16 oz can from AgentSteve; Thanks! Right out of the can I am hit with spicy brown sugar and a lime note; putting it to my nose I get some bubblegum, corriander, caramel, and candi sugar sweetness; hazy copper with a medium, lightly lacing, brown head; flavor is of belgian spices (cloves, ginger, and corriander), light sweetness, and a citrus note; there is a little bitterness in the background and finish, along with some alcohol warmth. I am going to have to get a bunch of cans for winter evenings!
beerguy101 (3608), Newark, California, USA Dec 21, 2008 Tasted on tap at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 12/5/2008. This Abbey dubbel pours an orange gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, orange, sweet with a touch of spice. A medium bodied dubbel. The malts are fruity and sweet, hint of orange. The hops are earthy. Nice spicing, the lime and lemongrass balance the malt sweetness nicely. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. larryLSB (21), La Selva Beach, California, USA Dec 9, 2008 From a can picked up at 41st Ave Liquors in Capitola. Poured golden amber into a tulip glass with small off white head. Citrus nose, tastes of lime, a bit on the sweet side, kinda syrupy. Left a nice aftertaste that brought out the lemongrass and a warm fuzzy feeling. First can I had was too chilled; I warmed up the second, much better! hopdog (4950), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 7, 2008 On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of gerneral herbalness, lemongrass, some spices, and limes. Tastes of the same but the herbalness wasnt as strong and some citrus too. JohnC (1814), Mission Viejo, California, USA Dec 6, 2008 on tap at the 2008 san diego strong ale fest, this is a tasty brew.
