COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beer designed to help you beat the heat. So light and refreshing you may not realize when you finished your glass. Brewed with a good amount of wheat and a hint of caramel, hopped with Ahtanum and spiked with orange zest and juice, this one finishes very dry.

500ml bottle. Pours a hazed yellow with a medium white head. The head dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma of citrus, hay, fresh bread. Mild orange and grassy aromas. Some floral and earth notes. Flavor is crisp, with mild citrus tartness with some sweet bread and grassy notes. Finish is nice, crisp, dry. Above average carbonation keeps it nice and zippy on the palate. This is a nice, quenching saison.

For starters, this is not incredibly to strong for the style so that is a good start. Mine came from a newly tap keg and it’s very cloudy orange with a long lasting had of fine bubbles. This is overall a very mild beer with just a touch of clove and citrus plus some earthy bitterness in the finish. The texture is the best part: creamy without being sweet or heavy. It’s refreshing and pretty good but I can’t help but think a little tartness or something would set it off. It just strikes me as a bit flat as it is.

On tap at Jerry’s. Pours flat clear amber with moderate lacing. Aroma is weak and floral. Very light bodied with no initial flavor and weak bitter slightly musty finish. Not offensive but not good.

Draft at Jerry’s. Gold with good, creamy, white head, light lacing / Bright, mild nose of lemon, banana, resin, cream, funk / Light to medium body, a touch thin, soft carbonation, excellent balance with lightly bitter finish / Elegant flavors of lemon, gingko, honey, straw, grass / The body could use a little more oomph, but very nice.

Draft pour on tap at Goose Island’s Belgian Fest 2013. This was the first beer I got because I was very interested in this new brewery. Pour is very hazy pale golden color with a small but long lasting head. Has a sticky lacing. Too hazy to see through. Aroma is bright clean esters with sharp apple and pear. Some uncitric lemon as well. Nice combo of yeast esters and a but of fruity hops coming though. Flavor has a bit more biscuit malt coming though with more clean esters. A mineral flavor finishes off to balance things out. Fuller mouthfeel with a good carbonation. Real nice stuff.

Draft pour on tap at Clybourn’s Belgian Fest 2013 (Chicago, IL). Pours a well hazed deeper orange amber hue. Bigger cakey whitish head atop stays as a decent layer, good stick around. Aromas are gentle citrus, orange and pear meet some earthy hops. Gentle girthy dough, some honey. Mellow earth. Initial is citrusy off the bat, some firmer orange, touches of florals, citrus juice and mellow bready and straw. Nicer fruit influence. Middle is a touch bready, straw, some decent lingering citrus, florals and gentle spice. Backend is spicy, more yeasty, some dry bread and flaked wheat, touches of spice and earthy hops. Finish is a touch spicy, dry, and mellow bready malt. This works fairly well. Pretty drinkable, some complexity. Nice.
