2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
16.9 oz. bottle. Hoppy, tart, interesting, unusual, but ultimately not very good and somewhat offputting aroma. Scents of honey, grilled vegetables, pickle brine, and candy sugar. Pours a hazy, dark buff or dull/dirty brass/bronze color. Small to moderate amount of beige head. Looks good in a murky way. Tart, dry, tangy, mineral-y, vegetal, herbal, slightly sour, spicy, and bitter flavor that matches the aroma. Flavors of lemon, rhubarb, orange, and grapefruit. Ultimately not very tasty and, like the aroma, a bit offputting. Medium body. Quite lively and frothy in the palate. Overall, I am not a fan. It’s something different, it’s weird, and it’s just not very good.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured with a giant long-lasting off-white head, plenty of Lace, and a clear honey color. lots going on with the aroma yeast hops wine malt Caramel fruit. Flavor is like aroma although the bitterness from the yeast and hops is a little overplayed and clashes somewhat also there is bitter sweetness and plenty of carbonic tang. Body is decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle I schlepped back with me from the Midwest - hazy orange pour, with a fluffy, well-sustained head - nose has a nice earthy must to it, along with a slight muskiness, which leads to tangy, citric hop nose, and an underlying dry, toasty, lightly nutty malt richness that reminds me very much of a Biere de Garde - soft carbonation and texture - malts are dry, but rich, toasty, nutty, lightly doughy - soft basement yeast character - hops arrive late, but pack a slight punch - fairly bitter, leading to quite a peppery finish, along with a slight, lingering mineral quality - really does remind me of a hoppy BdG - I like it, despite it being a little hot in the finish - interested about the saison I brought back, now.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light copper color small dense white head. Sweet fruity aroma with a good amount of caramel again light which in think is a brewery trait. Flavor follows but adds an off putting bitter graham cracker note. Ok

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap - Hazy amber with a filmy ring of off white head. Light grapefruit with yeast, a little spicy fruity hops, and a light bread malt base. Taste is a little sharp, piney and bitter. Dry malt and yeast with a touch of astingency. Smooth and nicely carbonated.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Thanks, Frank. Bright orange pour with a white head. Quite a bit of sugar on the nose. A lot of pear, white pepper, and candied orange peel. Some mild booze and grass. Decent nose. Flavor is fairly sweet, but there is a good citrusy hop character. Mild grassy bitterness and mild spice. Kind of hot and very highly carbonated. Fairly peppery on the finish.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Costo Maybe? Although it doesn’t have the strength it has the big maltiness of a DIPA. The belgian spice and floral and fruitiness from the yeast is subtle. Solid. Serving: bottle

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Belgian IPA is a style that I thought would be stupid when I first started running into them but has ultimately proven to be probably the best IPA variant other than perhaps session IPA. This one in particular is cloudy orange w/ a huge head and tons of lace. There are loads of citrus hops and dusty lavender yeast character here--really nice nose. It is slightly dry w/ an almost coriander-like character here. This is a really drinkable and tasty IPA of any sort.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2014
Location: Draft at Blue Frog’s Local 22, 6/23/14
Aroma: The aroma has some clean hops, some fruitiness, and some metallic notes
Appearance: This one pours a cloudy orange color with a beige head and pretty good lacing
Flavor: This beer has a nice, solid flavor, it comes off as pretty clean and balanced
Palate: The mouthfeel is very soft and easy drinking, and it has a light dry finish to it
This is the first thing I’ve tried from (and first time I have heard of for that matter) Une Annee. It may not be the most impressive beer, but it something that is worth trying. Solid stuff.
