Pours orange/amber with nice thick, rocky head. Aroma is bread, rye, and faint weizen smells. Taste is similar, brown bread, apple pie filling, brown sugar. A different take on the weizen style using this ancient grain.

500 ml botlle from Wasanas in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. Pours a dark cloudly gold. With a lasting beige head. Aroma is a strong, banana, furit and wheat. Taste is a very nice mellow smooth example of style. Palate is mellow and very nice. Very Good for style.

Thanks to jonas for that one! Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass the same, zippy, creamy head. Starts spicy-yeasty, not too dry. Modest sweet-fruity notes. Finish milder, but not washy. Spicy-yeasty aftertaste, some caramel hints. Nice!

The head is robust, the body brown & cloudy. It smells yeasty, spicy, and special malty. The taste is yeasty, a bit malty, sweet-soft, aromatic. For a wheat really good! 13/12/11/11/12/12

Gusher. Huge tan head. Hazy amber body. Earthy wheaty banana aroma with pea notes. Sweetish, and faintly acidic, earthy wheaty banana taste with mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Flat, mild mouthfeel. Sweetish wooden oily banana aftertaste with earthy musty notes. Musty, flat and hardly any bitterness, but not bad. (0.5l bottle, Absinth Depot Berlin.)

From: World Wide Beverages Date: Best by 8/11/12 Glass: Weihenstephaner weizen glass A beer with spelt grain usage and wheat, brewed as a hybrid dunkelweisse, or so the appearance and flavors would seem. In general, I found the beer to be quite drinkable, a combination of classic dunkelweisse flavors with a bit more grain than usual, and a beer I could easily have more than one glass of. Pours a large, slightly off-white head of small, dense bubbles. Head retention is average, collapsing within a minute or two. Leaves little to no lacing along sides of glass. Body is a hazy, golden-brown orange, with light bringing out pale yellow highlights and lightening the brown-orange color. Aroma is of mid-intensity grain, banana and other less discernible fruit esters, and modest malt sweetness. Taste opens with malt sweetness on the front of the palate, transitioning to rich banana, malted wheat, cloves, and some sugars in mid palate. Back of the palate picks up some grain and continued malt sweetness, along with ripe banana and assorted other fruit-like esters. Aftertaste is of lingering banana and fruit esters with some malt sweetness. Beer is medium bodied, with mid-level carbonation that foams the beer up on the palate slightly, creating a smooth mouthfeel. Closes semi-dry, with the front of the palate significantly drier than the back.
