Bottle. Cloudy brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is mildly yeasty, and the flavour is quite dry and lightly banana. Overall an average weisse beer.

Bottle from Arden Wines. Organic hefe, hmm? A first for me. Murky brown indeed capped with white. No surprises aroma of fat estery banana, lemon, clove, bubblegum and sour wheat. Light acidity in the mouth with more banana fruit, toffee, earthy yeast, apple and an unfortunate bum note of antiseptic like a Belgian strong with added honey that really lets it down and detracts from it’s hefeweizen character. Flawed but decent.

Bottle at Brauhaus Südstern, Berlin. Dunkel hefe means murky brown. Chewy, malty, lemony zest. Nice, but no cigar, I’d prefer a cleaner flavour. But if you want to save the planet while drinking beer, this is an option.

Bottle (50 cl) at Brauhaus Südstern, Berlin, Germany. Cloudy brown orange with medium white head. Fruity and slightly roasted malt aroma, a bit sourish, with the usual banana and clove. Moussy mouthfeel, well balanced with a dry edge.

Murky dark orange color, tan head. Sweet malty scent, a bit boring. Thin sweet malty a slight bit fruity taste. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.
