3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 14, 2009
500ml bottle (BeerAngel.de)
Deep brown, healthy head. Rich treacly fruity aroma, very spicy. Full palate, pleasant carbonation. Dark treacle, roasted bread. Like the bits of bread pudding that have burnt to the side of the baking tray. Banana muted. Pleasantly hoppy finish, quite a tingly bite. Refreshing but very flavoursome. Classic dunkelweizen.

Bottle from Dodgy Deli’, Cowley Road, Oxford Poured murky amber colour with off white head. Yeasty and wheaty aroma. Quite refreshing but a bit timid and gentile, not really my thing if truth be known, but I perservered and got some banana towards the end once it’d warmed slightly.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (6112) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2008
Tawny, wildly fizzing weiss humming with toffee apple, sourish wood, banana, peppery clove and nutmeg. Flavour doesn’t quite follow through, petering out with a watery, earthy, apple peel-like note, and some cardboard. Ends up tasting like an amateurish bottled conditioned English bitter. Not enough fruit or body for me.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Emil (6070) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUL 4, 2005

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 23, 2007
Dark burnt caramel colour coveed by a nice lacy off-white head that reaches a solid inch in altitude. Huge banana nose accompanied by interesting pureed plums, rye bread, fresh wheat and general dark grains. There’s a pleasant, complex and appealing nose. It’s all well put together, though it gets more caramelly in mouth and develops an apple-like aspects that seems quite unfortunate seeing what it replaces. Earthy and powdery mouthfeel also does not quite reach expectations. The finish is tarter and with a juiciness that recall pomegranate memories. Sharp and biting carbonation.
