Great weissbier that stands apart from the rest. Brown, very dark in the glass, nice head. Very roasty and distinctivly malty aroma, accompanied by lots of cloves and citrus notes. Refreshing taste, malty and quite sour for my taste. Wonderful malty finish. Not the perfect beer, but a very unique, dark and well-made weissbier.

Bottle from Gourmondo. Hazy brown beer with a dissapearing bubbly head. Lots of ripe bananas with rye and dry after taste. Very unusual hefeweizen (or should this be dunkelweizen) which I didn’t enjoy so much.

Bottle. Brown, cloudy with a small thick white head. Aroma has banana and malt. Taste has roasted malt, banana, ripe fruit and nut. Smooth mouthfeel, creamy aftertaste.

weihenweizen (1866) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Refrigerated brown 0.5 L bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours slightly hazy amber with small beige head. Aroma is caramel/banana, medium body, well carbonated, and good small bubble lacing. Taste is caramel, banana, some bread, and some clove. My first pretty good amberweizen?

500ml bottle from Gourmondo.de, hazy light brown colour, small fizzy mostly lasting white head, fair lacing. Heavily malty aroma dominated by banana and cloves with some hints of nuts and hay, some floral hops and a bit of dough. Taste is initially sweetish but balanced with a hint of acidity, turning into a moderately bitter finish with an acetic feel and a hint of sourness. Medium body, lively carbonation, oily mouthfeel. A bit above average weizen but nothing insanely interesting, pleasantly refreshing and with some character anyway.

bottle. Hazy deep amber with two finger head. Aboverage hefeweizen. Clove and banana like you’d expect.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with big off white head. Smell is spicy, cloves. Aroma is sweet and just a little bit of cloves. Nothing much. Body is medium. Thin. Nod bad beer.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes orangegelbes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, malzig fruchtig. Geschmack hefig, fruchtig, leicht bananig, etwas würzig.

Bottle bought in Germany, poured very lively - a bit of a gusher - initially clear brown with a big off-white head, then clouding with the sediment. Nose is banana and toffee with smoky hints. Palate is rich, with touches of smoke, wine and bread, plus caramel and fruit notes, dryish yet turning sweet in the finish.

Serving: Draft. It pours a hazy, light brown with a hint of gold. Small white head. Light banana notes in the nose. Light wheat and banana notes in the flavor with a hint of maltiness. Fairly crisp finish. Decent.
