LilBeerDoctor (300), East Setauket, New York, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light orange with a small white head and a fair amount of yeast. Aroma of light fruits, some sourness. Flavor of bitter melon rind, some mint gumdrops, spices. It warmed the throat, but wasn’t boozy at all (definitely wouldn’t have guessed it was 10.5%). I think some of the light fruits disappeared with age, but this was alright.
Snojerk321 (904), San Diego, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours a musty golden orange with an off white head that didn’t stick around long. candied citrus and sweet malts dominated both aroma and flavor. The 10.5% is hidden very well. markwise (205), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 4, 2008 This is an amazing beer that has mellowed out very well. 750 mL bottle courtesy of kiefdog. The aroma is of grapefruit, champagne and caramel. Excellent light fruit flavor, not as effervescent for a Unibroue beer. IPAaLLtHEwAY (93), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 29, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours yellow/amber fast disipating white head. Aroma is of booze and hops. Flavor sweet, weak body, obvious hops presence. Not that great. tronraner (1370), (Louis-, Sevier-, Knox-)ville, Tennessee, USA Jun 21, 2008 750 mL bottle from gunhaver. Pours hazy orange with quickly-disappearing ecrue head. The aroma is spritzy orange and lime with some honey and spices. Flavor is citrus peel, orange and lime mostly. Then some honey and malt sweetness. Some dusty caramel follows that, then a finish that is dry and earthy and has a little bit of a hint of brett. I doubt that’s supposed to be there, but it helps the flavor out quite a bit. Not too shabby. kiefdog (322), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 19, 2008 75cl bottl from Beer World (Largo, FL). Bottled in 2004. Pours a orange-golden color with a thin tan head that dissipates to nothing. Minimal lacing of glass but still very carbonated for its age. Aroma has notes of honey, caramel, sweet candy sugar, cherries and rhubarb. Taste has many of the same notes, but the flavors of strong ripe fruit transitions to strong caramel. Beer then flattens out toward the end with a slight tangy taste on finish. Interesting. Medium-bodied.
