BeerBlockaid (468), West Palm Biatch, Florida, USA Mar 23, 2006 Beer #300......yey...finally! What a way to celebrate too. If one only knew the trouble I went to, to find swill to drink for my 299th brew. sheesh. I drove around for like 2 hours and finally found a Carlsberg @ Target for $1.50. On to the good stuff. Pours a dark trios pistole like hard prune burgandy with a decent head. Slowly melts like the glaciers in Greenland, consequences leading to the rising levels of black cherries, prunes, banana, and vinegar offset to a mild flemish ale characteristic. For taste, it’s a bit bundled to tight, even after raising the temp. Glad I got a few to store away for a few years. But for now, it’s still loverly. Lots of the same characteristics in the nose, minus the flemish edge. Dark raisons and prunes, caramel brown sugar, ample hop brushing the tongue here and there, with a surprising splash of fresh black cherry. at about half way up the bottle, it develops a nice chewy complexity to it. After bite is a bit musky and aromatically earth toned, but no real defined elements one would hope to achieve when maturing it for a few years. Can’t wait to pop this one open in a year or two:). yum!

austone (447), Turku; Pori, Finland Sep 25, 2008 Bottle @ Ølbaren. Opaque deep red, no head. Little sour, vinous nose, some soy sayce and syrup. Sourish flavor with liquorice, berry wine, little soy sauce. Gets better as it warms. LooseCannon (680), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Sep 14, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours dark brown in color with brown head. Aroma sweet, fruity and malty. Taste sweet, fruity and lightly bitter with dry finish. sayravai (3186), Helsinki, Finland Sep 12, 2008 (Bottled, 0.75l) Hazy reddish dark brown color with almost no head. Strongly malty, sweetish aroma with figs and cloves. Flavor of sweetish dried fruit, figs, plums, etc. with a tiny hint of alcohol. Medium to full body with almost no carbonation. A sweet, but quite drinkable ale. FlssmrBrewAlum (245), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Aug 27, 2008 22 oz. bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). One of my last bottles of the Iowa stash. Broken open in honor of the girlfriend’s brother’s bachelor party. Pours a dark brownish hazed beauty of a pour with a decent tan head. Aromas are sweet, yeasty with some notes of apple must and pear. Flavors are much different, bordering on darker chocolate malts and dark fruitiness, making this beer special. Smooth yet full bodied, leaving me sad I probably won’t see this brew ever again. A top notch annual that aged very well. Kudos to John’s. Cheers!
