jredmond (621), New Jersey, USA Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Jun 29, 2008 750mL bottle. The beer poured a darkish orange hazy body. The aroma is fruit - maybe some grapes - and juice. The taste is great like the other ephemeres - better than the apple, but not quite as good as the cranberry. Great beer.
Dogbrick (2266), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 23, 2008 Sample at Weasel Boy. The beer pours a pinkish gold color with a medium off-white head that fizzes away quickly. Aroma of currant and granny smith apples. Medium-bodied with a tart fruity character. Apples and currants are complemented by some bready malts and wheat. The finish is fruity with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Decent overall. Beer_Hawk (759), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Sep 23, 2008 2004 Bottle shared by Springslicker. Poured amber with a slight hint of pink. White head with pink highlights. Aromas of sweet berries and hints of earthy wood. The flavor has lots of berry in it with a slight malt backing. Medium body, fizzy carbonation, sweet flavor overall with a slight sour finish and a berry aftertaste. Nice! ross (1562), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Sep 22, 2008 2004 bottle from Jay. Damn, Jay knocked out two beers I have wanted to try for a very long time at once. Thanks! Pours out a pink color with a white head on it. Smell is fruity, kind of like a mix between grapes and cherries. Apparently I dont know what a currant is because I had some cheese with black currants in it, and it tasted like cherries. This beer doesnt really taste like a cherry - more like a champagne with dark grapes in it. Interesting beer though, but it isnt on the level as the cranberry one was. It has held up well, but the over carbonated factor makes this one a tad difficult to consume. illinismitty (1456), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 20, 2008 Bottle from Springslicker. Pours orange amber with an off white head. Lighter side of medium bodied with a refreshing texture. Aroma of grape skins and dark fruit. Flavor of blackberry, sweet wine, and pale wheat malts. Not as sweet as the cranberry. This has held up well for a 2004 bottle. Butters (425), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 20, 2008 Oxidationfest Tasting at illinsmitty’s again curtesy of Springslicker. Sparkling orange with peach highlights and white head. Aroma is still perfumy but not as floral. Flavor is dark fruit and a bit of light yeast. Body was fizzy and champagne like.
