| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2002 Looks and smells great. Pale, lightly clouded, heavily carbonated and excessive foam. Aroma is apple yeasty with considerable pepper and clove spice as well as a touch of woodiness. Smooth, creamy on the palate, sweet and buttery at first, light fruitiness, and quite bitter and spicy in the finish. Flavor just seemed a little short compared to everything else. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2002 Head is initially large, fizzy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy
medium yellow, dense tiny/small/medium particles, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is moderately hoppy (lemon, flowers), moderately yeasty (cobwebs,
mold), lightly malty (cookie), with notes of bubble gum, coriander,
pineapple, and clove, light note of alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet,
moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly
acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation,
lightly alcoholic. Lighter bodied, much fizzier, and less of a lasting
finish than desired, but otherwise quite nice...well-hidden alcohol,
attractive aroma, and good flavor balance. Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

Spices on palate, full bodied, peppery, malts are incredible. This brew is great. Im very impressed. Alcohol is hidden beneath all these complex flavors, swirling all over the palate. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 9, 2002 Well, I really liked this one at least... typical belgian, slight floral hop, spicy yeast aroma that is one of my favorite things about the style; unique unibroue yeast? that would explain why I haven’t been disappointed yet with these bastards... noticed the same wheat-like yeast quality in the flavor, a sort of spicy grapefruit, lemon citrus flavor as well as the typical sweet, floral spice present in most trippels... great brew really, I’d recommend it sir. Great finish too... apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 4, 2002 I guess I really need to stop trying the Belgian Strong Ales, I generally don’t care for them. There is something in the flavor that is reminiscent of plastic. In this case, the alcohol content burns. The flavor is smooth, but that is no consolation for the generally bad taste. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2002 Hmmm, I’m not sure what to make of this. It has a very fruity, sweet aroma, and a cloudy golden appearance with a very nice head. The flavor reminds me more of a champaigne than a beer. The sweet, fruit and malty flavors I’ve come to expect from Belgian Strong Ales really isn’t present in this beer at all. The finish is very dry and slightly bitter. It’s growing on me, but that may just be because it’s making me tipsy. khayman70 (154), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 31, 2002 Was not impressed with this beer. Too much spice and carbonation for my palate. Though it looked okay, it wasn’t a favorite in my book.
