JFURYCAT (706), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 1, 2008 My palate was pretty much destroyed by New Glarus Raspberry Tart and Panil Barique before this but the apple flavor really struck me as dominant with some spices underneath and the alcoholic content was there. This one seems complex with a mix of fruits, malts, spices in a dry hardly carbonated somewhat cloudy body.
TURDFERGUSON (1114), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 17, 2008 750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of kmweaver. Thanks Ken! This beer was incredibly oxidized. Thats all I really tasted. Maybe some yeastiness as well, but not much of the unibroue house character was left. I must confess, I still have not grown into loving these oxidized messes. wilkie (1087), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2008 750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of puzzl. Thanks, Andy, and once again thanks ken for the preamble. Pours yellow/golden, cloudy, with a white head and lacing. Aroma is dark fruits and yeast. Flavor similar, with candy sugar, sweet, soft finish.
I wrote something else at the bottom that I can’t read! :( Campfire shoulda been bigger! kmweaver (1948), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jul 13, 2008 750mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of puzzl. Thanks, Andy! Pours a hazy, golden color; thin, off-white head with patchy lacing; decent looking beer. Lots of dried caramel and yeastiness in the aroma; dried fruits, caramelized bananas, and caramelized sugar; a touch watery at the edges. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of dried fruits, dry caramel, and basic citrus upfront; loads of breadiness, dough, and complex yeast character; highly carbonated; quite tasty overall. Plenty of oxidation at this point. Medium finish: dry caramel, breadiness, and brown sugar; soft, dry end. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 10, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Maxxdaddy. Slightly hazy golden with a creamy, white head leaving some lacework. Soft aroma of fruit and yeast. Solid body with rich fruity accents and some yeast. Lightly oxidized, but actually the oxidization just rounds the beer off in a pleasant way. Very subdued bitterness. 220308 sk8viking (6078), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 27, 2008 Bottle thanks to Maxxdaddy. A hazy yellow beer with a big white head. The aroma and taste is of yeast, fruits, spices and it´s a bit oxidiced, sweet. Medium to full body with a sweet light alcoholic finish.
