Can’t stand their house yeast, which is oh-so-definitive (and you’ve got to admire them for that, like it or not). But look, this beer just pwned me because, whether I like it or not, I have to admit that it absolutely rocked. It’s a beautifully crafted tripel (why listed as Belgian strong?) and it is drinking absolutely amazing right now with three years on it. Muscat and green apricot, whispers of mandarin and pineapple, yeah that Unibroue yeast but so well matched this time around, sweet bready tripel, mmmm....so good. Floaty matter, golden beauty, white head, unbelievably smooth on the tongue. Perfect age, splendid beer. Yeah, it’s me as an Ann Arbor native admitting that Ohio State has a good football team, but Unibroue put together a heck of a beer here. Kudos to them. deyholla (579), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Bottle. Poured a murky dark orange with a thin light brown head. Aroma was sweet with floral and light citrus notes as well as a grainy sweetness from the malts. Flavor is sweet from the malts with a floral undertone. Very smooth on the tongue. patrickfannon (299), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA

Very delicate, sweet nose that’s particularly faint, might just be my glass. Sweet flavor with malts and the Unibroue carbonation. Very clean finish and very light. Nice mouthfeel. Awesome beer on lees. shared with jredmond jredmond (1029), New Jersey, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Thanks to Bob for sharing this beast of a beer. Hazy amber pour with sufficient floaters. Light oxidation and caramel on the nose. Flavor is spicy, but all in all this was really oxidized. durhambeer (1202), Durham, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to JME. Pours amber, and tastes and smells similar to a biere de garde, though some of that comes from what oxidation has done to this beer. Some cardboard on the malt, but prominent notes are caramel and rotten apples, in a good way. Mild spice as well. I’m sure this was different fresh, but it’s still pretty decent.
