french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Dec 23, 2007 Orange hazy / cloudy poor with a thin frothy head. Aromas of sweet bread, creme brule, bananas, cloves, nutmeg, orange / mango, vanilla, and poor man’s pudding. Slightly flat, missing cartbonation but still has a very creamy and rich mouthfeel. Full bodied. Added flavors of passion fruit and mangos. Very impressive, but not the best anniversary edition... bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 14, 2007 Bottle: Murky orange pour, no head. Sweet bread dough, orange peel, spiced aroma. Very well balanced on the palate. Flavors consisting of spice, belgian yeast, citrus and an earthiness of unknown origin. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Dec 13, 2007 12-13-07. Bright golden-amber, huge white head. Aroma very triple like. Candi sugar, apple, banana, spice and "hot" alcohol. Strange at over 2 years, it’s still this hot. Flavor starts with a decent fruit ester and candi sugar combo, fades rather quickly to dusty pils malt and alcohol. Again very triple like. Carbonation helps to clean palate, which in this case is a good thing. W/O the hot aspect this would be pretty nice. KPMycoskie (15), USA Nov 22, 2007 Bomber Bottle. Initial pour head fizzy and reduced quickly. The aroma was very complex and sweet, citrus and brown sugar. The opening taste was directed by the Belgian wild yeast strain, which was overriden by the sweetness from the candi sugar in the end. Almost like a perfect story...one of my favorite belgian-style beers outside of belguim. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Nov 21, 2007 Pours a hazy, inpenetrable orange colour with a puffy white head and visibly effervescent carbonation that mellows as it sits. The aroma is fruity and spicy, with suggestions of bright passion fruit, white gapes and corriander. The presence of funky yeast is minimal on the nose, but it’s definitely there. The flavour is equally fruity, with notes pear and apple above a very sweet caramel malt backbone. There is a peppery bite from the booze, but considering the abv it is very well hidden without being too sweet or cloying. Some zesty citrus and yeast on the finish. The mouthfeel is creamy and tingly with a medium body. Nice and complex Belgian ale that lives up to the brewery’s reputation. gsmitty80 (630), Washington DC, USA Nov 18, 2007 Beer pours a hazy straw yellow with alot of carbonation and off white head. Very spicey tones come off the beer and it tastes like a la fin du monde with more spices. scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottled. A hazy orange beer with a tall white head. Aroma is very spicy, fruity and malty. Taste is malty and yeast. Spicy and grassy end fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 2, 2007 Hazy golden in color. A lot of fruit and citrus in the nose. A little sour and fruity in flavor along with the alcohol and some hoppiness.
