Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 18, 2006 Pours hazy light yellow. Cardamom and coriander aroma. Sweet, ripe bananas and yeast. Stale, yeasty medium sweet Belgian flavour. Spices with soil and herbs. Like thousands of other Belgian beers – but from Canada: lots of heavy spices, too sweet and yeasty. Starting to get really bored of this genre. Medium body. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 17, 2006 This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop marked jan 15,2006 A06061724Q poured a very large sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that was long lasting and left behind a hazy typically carbonated dark yellow brown colored body and thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was floral and malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The thick flavor contained notes of malt spices and floral. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. Ingevara (516), Hindås, Sweden Nov 17, 2006 Very creamy stabile head. Misty pour. Smells of apples, tastes like carbonated applejuice with vodka and yeast. V E RY fruity. Not much aroma of the kind I usually conect with a good beer. Overpriced and too strong in alcohol. Nah... omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 16, 2006 Bottled. Hazy golden, lively head. Perfumy pineapple aroma. Medium sweet with spritzy rounded mouthfeel. Cidery and lightly fruity with a lighter body than expected. Evident Belgian style yeast character, notes of grassy hops. Well balanced. Very good - as usual from Unibroue. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Nov 15, 2006 750mL bottle, (I think)bottled January 6, 2006. Pours a cloudy honey golden with a 2 1/2 finger creamy slightly yellow head. Aroma of some bananas, candy sugar, yeast, spicy hops and some dust. Taste is a lot more yeast and spice, some tangier fruits--apples and something citrus--come to mind. Dry slightly bitter finish. Alcohol is very well hidden. Highly carbonated and full bodied, though the carbonation doesn’t seem as sharp as some of their other brews. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Nov 13, 2006 750ml bottle pours slightly cloudy golden with a creamy white head that stays pretty well and laces the sides of the tulip. Aromas of yeast, spice, apple, honey, and a little bit of bannana. Flavor is very yeasty as well with notes of bannana, apples, honey, some light tropical fruit, and lots of grainy notes. Palate is light crisp and very carbonated with almost a fizzy mouthfeel but nothing that takes away from the brew..Alcohol is not found at all. This one was actually quite tasty and easy to drink for such a big brew.. Pretty nice.. Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Nov 12, 2006 Aroma: slightly funky, apples, honey, spicy yeast, citrusy, caramel, wheat, really nice, pineapple, fresh tomatoes, slightly of fresh plums, aniseed. Estery. Appearance: unfiltered, fruity golden (pretty warm). White head that quickly sets after fizzing for a short while (in a thin, sparkling manner). Flavour: forestlike, fruity, pleasant balance between bitter and sweet, vinous, very nice. Slightly liquoricelike and fruity sweetness. Malty & full-bodied for such a pale beer, actually it’s surprisingly full-bodied irrespectively... Perhaps a lingering malic acid taste. Alcoholic and white pepper aftertaste. Palate: although highly carbonated this beer is very smooth and rich, milky and vinous. Sweet snacks have a huge effect on the flavour of this beer. Yoghurtcovered strawberries made it taste fleshy and metallic in a nice way but I settled with gingerbread. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Nov 11, 2006 Pours a very deep gold with hints of orange and a thick, white head. The aroma is a beautiful combination of golden sweet malts, wheat, hints of orange peel, some coriander, some yeast, and some alcohol. As it warms, a little grassiness enters the aroma (and the flavor, too). The flavor begins with wheaty, yeasty, full-bodied breadiness. Orange peel and perhaps some sort of spice (coriander? grains of paradise?) enter the party along with some sweet malts in the middle. It then finishes somewhat dry but also a little sweet - and there is also a little bit of stale hops bitterness that sticks to the back of the tongue. The finish is long and the after-taste has has hints of hop flavor and a considerable amount of alcohol (quite warming as it goes down). An amazing brew!
