mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Nov 10, 2006 Bottle(1/6). BevMo La Mesa. Pours a hazy golden orange color. Aroma is like candy and yeast. Somewhat foral and sweet with a bit of spiciness. Maybe a little alcohol. Slightly creamy grain and yeast up front. A bit of spice and alcohol as well. A little fruitness. Pretty decent offering. Jayb0 (750), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Nov 8, 2006 I’m going to have to try this again. It didn’t hit me quite right on first try but with my general liking for Unibroue maybe it was "me, not you". Too sweet such that the yeastiness was cloying. ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 7, 2006 Bottled. A hazy greyish golden beer with a fluffy white head which dissaåears quicly. Big, yeasty, fruity and not so refined aroma of banana, orange-marmelade, your familial Unibbrou yeast with dryish peppery undertone. Dryish and quite sweetish flavour of wheat, banana and orange-peels. Long warming, slightly alcoholic aftertaste of pepper, anise and oranges. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Nov 7, 2006 A true delight the the senses. A good strong whiff consists of high alcohol malts and slight. taste is highly carbonated with tastes of doughy goodness and tastes of passion fruit.
a must have!! nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 7, 2006 The aroma is sweet with caramel, cloves, light fruit, and coriander. There is also a large amount of yeast and citrus. The appearance is dark hazy gold. The flavor is just like the aroma with alcohol that is present but not overwhelming. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s a quality beer from a quality brewer. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Nov 4, 2006 Murky yellow body with a few fingers of head. Smells mostly citrussy with some spice. Citrus, spice, alcohol, vanilla (?) all dominate the flavor. Really complex and smooth. Medium bodied. Fairly drinkable, and alcohol does not seem even close to 10%. One of the most (if not THE most ) palletable offering I’ve ever had from Unibroue. Fairly well-ballanced and more drinkable than many. I’m impressed. Deffinitely getting this again if I ever see it again. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 4, 2006 This long lost rating suddenly reappeared in a stack of scrap paper. The beer poured dark golden-straw with abundant carbonation and a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of very clean esters with elements of bananas and flowers, plus mild clove notes. Nicely fragrant with notes of lightly toasted wheat and dark honey tones. Flavor also has lots of aromatic fruit with a nice balance of sweet honey-like malt, esters, and medium phenols. Has some unmistakable alcoholic strength and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little syrupy. Could be slightly drier and less plastic-phenolic, but decent nonetheless.
papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Nov 2, 2006 Cloudy pale yellow color with a generous fine white head. Aroma is fruity, white wine and yeast. Flavor starts fruity and spicy with a little clove, a hint of banana, lightly sweet with a little lemon finishing peppery and and lightly dry. Medium bodied and smoth with moderate carbonation.
