Pours an opaque gold with a fizzy effervescent and fleeting white head. The aroma is yeasty and smells strongly of honey. Alcohol fixes the nasal epithelia. The palate is burning from the high alcohol. In fact, it is rasping to the tongue. The body is too thin to support this level of ethanol. The extreme unbalanced alcohol flavor dominates what honey sweetness remains from the ethanol conversion. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA

Lots of Belgian golden ale character, but more alcohol. Probably around 25 IBU’s. Spiced with coriander, in very small amounts, unless I am mistaken. Floral/perfumy aroma gives it away. Balanced flavors in this sneaky biatch. jefcon (998), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2006 Lots of great white head on a demure, clean, golden-yellow brew. Leaves plenty of lacing in the glass. Aromas are cold and vinuous at first, then give way to crusty bread, crisp apple, lemon and orange citrus, and herbal notes. Though the beer hides its alcohol well, there is a good amount of spice and astringency. Finish is caramel and malts. Flavor profile is soft and not very aggressive, but what is there is worth tasting. Silphium (2124), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2006 Cloudy yellow-orange body, thick cream head. Aroma of fermented fruits- white grape, pear, etc., with caramels, bread, and spice. Sweet body with fermented fruits (again, white grape and pear, with hints of apple), bready, strongly estery with a heavy spice character. Heavy, syrupy body with a potent alcohol presence. Very nice.

Indra (2025), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2006 750ml bottle. Sweet, fruity aroma, tropical and sugary with notes of pear, melon, white grape, honey, doughy yeast and a light amount of spicy, peppery alcohol and lemony citrus, perhaps a hint of green apple as well. Light-medium golden color with tones of amber shining through, lightly hazy with a hugely frothy and lasting head subsiding to reveal thick sheets of rocky lace. Flavor profile is tart and fruity with a spicy yeast bite throughout and plenty of alcoholic tinges here and there, along with suggestions of pepper and a warming, estery finish that blends easily with the lingering, gently tart fruitiness. Effervescent on the palate and lightly syrupy with a decidedly full body. Very much in the style of a Strong Golden Ale, and very Unibroue. Odeed (1673), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2006 Updated: Aug 3, 2006From 750mL Bottle. Very loud pop upon opening the bottle and gushes of foam flood my glass. Slightly hazy pour of lemony amber topped with a copious amount of soapy white head. Aroma of sourdough bread, orange peel, coriander, and a bit of musty yeastiness. Rich, almost syrupy mouthfeel with a milky cream-like carbonation. Pleasantly tasty flavors of spicy yeast, clove, and musty orange zest dance on my tongue. Some creamy banana notes in there as well, along with some fermented mango and sweet clover honey. Very classic, predictable Belgian ale flavors, complete with the slightly peppery yeasty smack - I like it. A little bit on the sweet side, but quite pleasing nonetheless.
