microakes (94), Canada Jun 25, 2006 Golden colour with carbonation and bit of sediment floating around (oops). Slightly bitter taste but still quite smooth. None of the spiciness found in some of the other unibroue product, which might be a mistake. Not the best from Unibroue, but that’s like getting a B in a room full of A students. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Jun 23, 2006 This looks flat: no head, golden-orange, cloudy body. But actually, the head just faded fast, as there’s plenty of carbonation. Big, fizzles bubbles on the palate. Spicy, fruity (melons, oranges, bananas) both in the aroma and in the flavor too. Pleasant, spicy, grassy finish. Not too heavy, not too sweet. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2006 Golden/straw colored beer with high, fizzy carbonation - sweet honey aroma, with some background earthy/yeastiness, a touch of lavender and peach - I taste a lot of tropical fruit in this (apricot, pinapple mostly) - somewhat sweet up front, but a spicy driness swells up to balance it, with a hint of the lavender from the aroma, along with some other aromatic/flowery qualities - almost seems like a really strong saison/tripel-hybrid - pretty good. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Jun 23, 2006 Nice aroma, typical of Unibroue’s yeast strain, fresh cut pears, plums, and little apricot, moderate phenolics, a little honey, peppery. Hazy golden color, dense off-white head. Sweet up front, some spicy phenolics, a little earthy. Medium-full body, medium-high carbonation, slight alcohol warming. Very nice, I’d like it a little crisper, with a lighter body and drier finish. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 23, 2006 Decent belgian strong ale, not as good as expected by Unibroue standards and by the price. Glad I tried it but won’t be searching for it in the future. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Jun 21, 2006 4.1 18 (05.13.06) Sampled at DiCarlo’s Spring beer tasting event. Bottle. Poured hazy golden yellow with medium white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity spicy aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with malt, fruit (dried orange peel?), spicy (coriander?) flavors. Finished dry with spicy malt fade. Smooth and complex flavor character. Styled like a Belgium Trippel, this is an excellent drinkable ale. kms399 (267), plymouth, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2006 pours a slightly hazy golden color with a large white head. aroma of spice, yeast, orange peel and a little alcohol. taste is the same but the spice is a little stronger and a bit of apricot shines through as well. very refreshing with a lingering palate and an almost hot spicy after taste like sham mentioned. very well done. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 21, 2006 Dark gold with a lasting frothy, white head. Aroma is comprised of citrus and spices. A little bit dusty and dry. Some fruits. Yeasty and sharp. Flavor is fairly hoppy. Spices are abundant as well. Coriander doesn’t hide, and bitterness rears it’s head. It is a bit hot. A snatch bready or yeasty. The palate is a bit chalky and dry. The finish lingers on for quite some time with yeast, spices and hops. Interesting blend of flavors and quite pleasing.
