Lots of wit style spices in the aroma and flavor. Highly carbonated. Spicey, malty, yeasty, lightly fruity flavor. Lots of subtleties. Well made, but doesn’t have the depth of many of their other years. Pear, green apple, slight lemon. Nice and very drinkable. Hides alcohol well (just the slightest warming). winegarner (220), san diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2006 This one seemed like a strong version of a belgian wit. Poured a hazy dark yellow with a frothy head that lasted until the cup was empty. Beer had a bready wheat character with lots of gentle fruit such as pear, apple, lemon and melon. some light spicing was present, definately coriander. On the dryer side for a beer of this gravity yet still pleasing and full. Also had a crisp finish like that of a wit. Well done, though not extremely memorable. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2006 had this on a unibroue flight. not as good as the ’04 or ’05 by any means, but quite good on its own merits. a high quality beer, but nothing particularly stuck out at me. probably would have been more interesting if served a little warmer. bigrond (1044), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2006 Updated: May 22, 2006Pours with a lightly hazy, orangish copper color, it is topped by a frothy, three-finger thick, pale tan colored head. As I pour this beer I get notes of aromatic apples. The aroma is a nice mix of spice and fruit with a hint of a musty note. I get notes of earthy coriander, hints of ginger, sweet apple, pear, some notes of lemon zest, a bit of cork, and a sort of dusty grain note. The aroma on this beer is really quite nice.
The taste is lightly sweet up front with a nice grain note to it. The beer is quite spicy as well with notes of pepper, ginger, an earthy spice note, some clove, and a touch of hot alcohol in the finish. Sharp, lightly tart fruity notes reminiscent of pears and green apples are found throughout the flavor profile of this beer. This beer is eminently drinkable, the 750ml bottle just seems to disappear way too quickly. The beer, while quite drinkable, has a certain fullness to it. In fact the beer really has a palate clinging character to it; lots of flavor from this beer clings to the palate long after it has left. The integration of all of the components of this beer are what really makes this so nice.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2006 Beer pours slightly cloudy golden color with the expected massive egg white colored head. Aroma is quite nice with lots of light fruit, e.g. apples, pears, estery with a bit of a yeast note. Flavor is initially dry with pears then an extremely dry spicy finish. I don’t think I have ever had a beer this dry before. This thing is bone dry in the finish. The palate is quite carbonated and creamy. Nice aroma, nice flavor. Seems to need a little something more to join the elite Belgian Strongs. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2006 Pours a hazy orange yellow with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet, light, and fruity. It smelled a little like pears. Not much to place in the taste. I picked up on some fruit, but it was mainly just spicy. A smooth, warming Belgian! I think this is stronger then the ABV suggests.
