750ml provided by argo0. Pours a hazy, yellow with a white fizzy head. The aroma is bananas, cloves, pears and golden grapes i.e. it smells like an Unibroue. The flavor is cloves, apricots and raisins. Medium body.

Bottle: Pours a hazy orangey/golden. The head is well retained when you give the bottle a swirl and disturb the sediment. Bright fruity/spicy aroma. Has suggestions of pears, green apples. When you swirl the glass you can get a whiff of barnyard/funky yeast notes. There’s a nice spiciness to it as well of peppery alcohol. The mouth feel is nice and fluffy. The tingly carbonation becomes creamier as it sits. Has a mellow fruity flavor. There’s lots of pear in there, as well as white grapes and fresh green apple-skins. There’s a light sweetness in the background of butterscotch and clover honey. The finish has a light spiciness of white pepper. No indication of alcohol in the flavor. A subtly complex, easy going, and dangerously drinkable Belgian Ale.

Pours a medium rust color with a thin head that dissipaited with some speed. Big bold aroma of alcohol, and malts. I caught some blackberry, razz, and other dark fruits in there as well.......a great brew!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JCB (2918) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 12, 2008
750 from (I think), the now defunct Good Beer Store, Chapel Hill. Not your usual dark Belgian strong from Unibroue, this is more like a St. Bernie tripel knockoff, and a good one at that. Ripe fruits (not really so much citrus as something richer, almost mango I’d say) with some fading spice and lots of sugar. The heat is still there at 10% but it’s mellowed and subdued. Overall I’d say it’s slightly too sticky-icky, but it’s a mighty fine beer on balance.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerbill (2850) - Laurel, New York, USA - OCT 12, 2008
750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy antique gold with a moderate white head that lasted through two-thirds of the beer and left very little lace. Very pleasant aroma of apples, pears, yeast, candi sugar and some very mild fresh hay. The flavor is equally nice with apples, pears, yeast, candi sugar and some alcohol. Very lovely, crisp finish. A really enjoyable beer that appears to be holding up quite nicely.

Thanks durhambeer. Pours an amber yellow with a chunks. Head is one finger offwhite. Nose is mildly oxidized, yeasty, some spices. Flavor is papery, cardboard, oxidation, some spice, a mild peach flavor. Palate is mildly carbonated. A bit past prime.

I couldnt disagree with golubj more; he obviously does not have an exquisite palate. He should stick with Miller High Life. His taste buds are just lacking on so many levels. Seriously though, the beer was too carbonated for me. Harsh palate. Some good, but not complex flavors. Alcohol was well hidden. Had some distinct unibroue flavors;
