Rated on March 30, 2008 (bottle purchased on February 26, 2008). Pours a cloudy caramel golden with a thin head that generally dissipates quickly. Aroma: sweetness, honey, hints of apple and fresh fruit, perhaps just a touch of caramel and apple cider. Flavor: similar to aroma with a very smooth, creamy mouth-feel. Hints of honey with a slightly bitter finish. patrickfannon (384), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Bottle. Sweet candy sugars in the nose with a light tracing of bananas, but there appears to be some tropical fruits present. I think I smell some Kiwi. Odd. There are also some floral notes as well. A rather quaffable aroma. Moderately hazy golden honey color with a nice off-whitish head that has nice staying power and good lacing. Starts with some very sweet, sugary flavors--almost cloying. Turns toasty and very biscuity in the middle. Lots of chewy maltiness. Very smooth, pleasant, and velvety. Alcohol is non-apparent. Perhaps a bit cloying to start, but I really love cereal-like biscuitiness in my beers, and I don’t mind sweet beers. I really enjoy this a lot, but I can see how this may not appeal to everyone. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 3, 2006 750 ml. brown Belgian bottle. Corked & caged. Cryptic date code on bottle itself. Loud pop forcefully ejects the cork. Poured out a hazy orange color, with a spotty orange creamsicle colored head. Left a slight lacing down the sides of my chalice. Aromas are of oranges, tangerines, melon, and tropical fruits, as well as sweet malts, yeasty bread, and slight whiffs of alcohol.
Flavors are tremendous in this one. Melons, pears, tropical fruit, and citrus all dance on the tongue, while the malty backbone asserts itself very well, thank you. Alcohol is present, but not overpoweringly so. Aging has turned this brute of a beer into a gentle lamb, full of flavor. Yeasty bread, malts, and brown sugar flavors in the mix as well. Rich mouthfeel, thick & creamy. Very lively on the tongue.
Finishes somewhat alcoholic, and earthy. A good triple from Unibroue. Keep up the good work. BeerBlockaid (548), Jacksonville, Florida, USA

So I hopped on in the badass mobile and raced up there after work to grab the last 3. Having had the 11 a year ago, I figure the age besets well. One for now, one for later, and one for that day I know I’ll need it. Pours out into a tulip bleeding colours mixed in the debths were maudite dwells after la fin du monde claims thee. Nose hits of sweet candied malts and fruits race forward beckoning one farther into the sinful nature of those who find pleasure in creature comforts. Peeled oranges, lemons, yeast, some dark fruits are offered as if I was the God Dionysus. And fitting of the bottle size and I quote the: Three kraters do I mix for the temperate: one to health, which they empty first, the second to love and pleasure, the third to sleep. When this krater is drunk up, wise guests go home. The fourth bowl is ours no longer, but belongs to hubris, the fifth to uproar, the sixth to prancing about, the seventh to black eyes, the eighth brings the police, the ninth belongs to vomiting, and the tenth to insanity and the hurling of furniture. Please besets all when loosely translated, no man cometh uncomforted. .............Listening to Morning Child off the new 4 hero album. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA

The body is cloudy and moderatly carbonated with a slight alcohal presence. The smell is spicy, wheaty, musty, fresh cut grass, with a pale malt honey notes. The taste is sweet upfront, honey and a sharp hop bite that perfectly matches the sweetness in the brew. This is another great offering from Unibroue.
