MartinT (6150) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 27, 2006
Any first impressions?
-A scarf of foam hugs the foggy golden.
-Flowery fruitiness and creamy yeast attempt to hide the dubious onset of DMS in the nose.
-Spicy fruitiness teams up with the milky, doughy yeastiness intrinsic to Unibroue.
-Small, vivacious bubbles are prickly but fitting.

What if you dig deeper?
-Coriander leaves and other herbs slowly reach definition in the aroma.
-Pears and gooseberries sweeten the leafy, spicy bitterness.
-Low alcohol appearance and slender lime leaf freshness make it quite easy to drink.
-Yet another twist on the Unibroue strong golden ale, what else were you expecting?

Bottle was bought in the US because the brewery decided to stop selling their special products to the local consumer who made them a big part of who they are today.

Poured a hazy, light amber color with a large white head that quickly diminished, leaving light lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, some spices, cardamom, earthy yeast, and toffee malts. Taste of citrus fruits, caramel malts, some dark fruits, bandaids, light spices, and sharp alcohol.

750ml bottle. Amber with a thick white head. Yeasty aroma with some malty bittersweet smell. Taste of malt and pear with some apple and spices. Alcohol present and a bit overwhelming. Balanced palate, small alcoholic finish. Nice, but not as good as Unibroue 10 or 11.

Pours a nice pilnery golden hue. Very nice malt profile, but dominated by alchohol. A little too pronounced on the alcohol, and slightly unbalanced

750ml bottle. Rating #435. Hazy orangish/yellow pour with a thin white head. Light metallic aroma, also has a candy sweetness to it and an apple fruitiness. A little booze, apple juice and a little bit in the aftertaste, not bad. (1874)

750ml bottle from Premier Gourmet. Pours cloudy ochre colour with foamy head, not lasting and not much lacing. Slightly sweet, spicy and over ripe apples and malt aroma. Malty dried fruit, yeasty flavour with nice carbonation. Lingering aftertaste with noticeable, though not overpowering alcohol.

GranvilleTim (955) - Granville, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2009
Cloudy bronze/peach pour with white head. Fruit aroma with nice notes of yeast and grain. Slight sweet taste. It leaves a dryness to the mouth but is refreshing. This beer just arrived at the store recently. They never had it there before.
