A consistent brewery whose products I have always enjoyed. This anniversary magnum is similar to many of their other brews, and I find nothing wrong with that. Orange/copper in color with tiny spots of lacing, and a thin filmy head. Vibrant and well carbonated. Fruity aroma of white grapes, cherries, and lemons. Spicy and musty with a heavy yeast earthiness. Very sharp aroma, smells great. Filling and fizzy due to the high carbonation. Poignant alcohol bite that is harsh and welcoming. Flavors are mainly fresh bread with bakers spices along with grapes and some citrus fruits rounded out by a potpourri of fresh flowers. Bitter, peppery effect is noticed in the background. Familiar as are most of Unibroue’s strong ales, this one was very agreeable.

Had this in my closet for a while, bottle gave a loud thundering pop when the cork was pulled, pours a medium ruby with peachy red, also, has the color of rose honey, gave a off-white foamy bubbled head, a one finger head prevailed thereafter, has a ton of effervescence, left nice creamy lacing on the glass, aroma of malt sweetness, dates and prunes, yeast and crusty brown bread, flavor of light dates and raisins, some malt sweetness, bread, mild bitterness at the finish, a hint of pepper on the palate, alcohol is hidden well, and this is pretty dry at the finish but this beer is not real sweet, this is a sneaker beer, mouth feel is creamy on the palate, has a medium mouth feel but is light and fluffy on the palate, a nice beer, lighter then the typical Dark Belgian Strong Ale, I enjoyed this a lot.

This one raged out of the bottle and settled nicely with a sudsy, but firm long-lasting off-white head. Colour was dark deep ruby with an orange-amber tint. Flavour of apples, spice, stewed pumpkin, and sweet brown sugar. Very Belgian in style and a high alcohol content that was hidden pretty well...the finish was a little bit hot but nothing too drastic. Overall, this was pretty good but did not exactly send me to the stars.

Pours a nice deep amberish golden color with a thick cream colored head. Sweet aroma of raisins, alcohol and fruit, was not very powerful though. Flavor is the fruit, alcohol and hints of vanilla. Carbonation is prevalent on the tongue, medium bodied feel in the mouth with a slight bite at the end.

750 ML bottle: Pours an light amber w/ orange hues throughout and sits below a huge, pillowy, lasting, cream colored head. Initial aromas of unripe pears and perfumey alcohol, and a tad bit of dish soap. Caramel and toasty malt come through as it sits, seems as though the caramel comes from it’s age. The typical plum fruity yeast esters comes through, although lighter than usual, and the yeast character itself seems peppery, but there is also more of a spicy character whether it’s from yeast or acutal spice additions. The malt also becomes bready when warmed a bit. The flavor is well balanced between fruitiness, spice, and malt flavors, as well as the hop/malt balance. The finish is dry and spicy flavored with peppery yeast, and again, the other spice characters. The soapy character is also in the flavor, but not quite as strong. Toasty and bready malts, a bit of sugary sweetness up front, but fades quickly. Plum fruits typical of the yeast. The mouthfeel is a bit warming, and dry due to that, medium carbonation and body. I would like to have tried this a couple years ago to see how it was. Seems like it aged well, but I’m not sure what’s been lost with it’s age.

Pours cloudy amber with a thin head. The aroma is the real winner of this one. Yeasty, musty, fruity, and spicy. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and the carbonation is heavy. There is an alcohol bite to this one as well... 10% and you can tell it. The flavor is dry, with just a bit of sweetness. A lot of the aroma blends in with the flavor- so you can duplicate my notes from that... could be because the aroma is so strong on this one. I think this would have been a lot higher rating if not for the overbearing carbonation...
