ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Amber with a small white head. Caramel malt aroma with some sherry and a hint of hops. Sweet and malty with a blackberry note. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Golden with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of sweetness, spice, candy sugar and raisin. The flavour has sweetness, notes of candy sugar, caramel, spice, yeast, fruit, raisin and it’s rather complex and nice. skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands May 31, 2008 Bottled @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Aroma is full of fruits (prunes) and a lot of spice and caramel malts. Clear, golden-amber coloured with an off-white head. Taste is sweet with some bitterness. Very fruity with the spicy touch. Caramel malty. Good stuff. GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA May 30, 2008 If there’s one thing that Unibroue does well, it’s Belgians. Strongs to be exact. A really nice pour and great aromas and flavors abound. Very similar to their Trois Pistoles and Maudite in flavor. Pours out a dark amber color, with dark fruits, spices and toffeyish malts abound. Very sweet, dark fruits dominate the flavor with some toffee and spices following up the rear. Some light mushroom notes also can be found here and there. Carbonation in just the right amount, nothing too harsh here. The one thing I find hard to discern is the difference between the different vintages, as many of them are very similar in tastes and aromas. Thankfully, all the different vintages are tasty. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden May 30, 2008 Bottled. Cloudy amber, rich lively head. Almondy nose with herbal spices. Sweet and caramelly, lively and sparkling with notes of pears and fruit salad. Grassy finish with some coriander. A compleax and arousing beer. Unibroue’s releases may be rather similar, but they’re still top class! TheElder (49), DeSoto, Wisconsin, USA May 29, 2008 When I poured this bottle I noticed that it was a cloudy orange. As for head retention, it never goes away. Frothy creamy, beige head. This is my favorite BSA so far. Palate is everywhere and I get sweet, metal, then... wow! Corn silage lightly afterwards. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA May 29, 2008 My favorite unibroue thus far. Seems all around more complex than other unibroue i have tried. The aroma on this one is provocative. The appearance is remarkable. I could just stare at this one for minutes at a time. The head is very long lasting with good lacing. The flavor is interesting it triggers all over the palate with fruit and yeast and alcohol and bitterness. I personally do not care for metallic flavored beers, and this is one. However this one is pleasant enough. Overall I was very happy with this one, definitely a session beer, although with 10% alc./vol. it would be a short session. saxo (3511), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark May 29, 2008 Sample at Aarhus beerfestival. Nice head with ok duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are sweet, fruits and yeast. Vinous beer.
