Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Mar 10, 2008 July 2007 - Cherry maple color, decent head and lacing. Aroma of burnt gunpowder that reminded me of the 4th of July as a kid. Taste of smokey malts, very little else. Enjoyable beer. Hides the alcohol well…never woulda guessed it was 10% abv. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Mar 8, 2008 750 from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a dark cloudy orange with a monstrous head. Nice lacing. Aroma of citrus (lime) and malt. Very sweet taste... fruity (citrus, apple) with a malty base somewhere along the lines of graham crackers. Quite effervescent and thick mouthfeel. Tasty. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Mar 8, 2008 750 ml bottle. Soapy nose a bit overwhelming. Taste is very chunky, a bit chocolately, very sweet, thick and smooth. The soapy nose kills much of the enjoyment of this beer. MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Mar 7, 2008 Another GREAT offering by Unibroue. Flavor is nice and fruity with apples and cherries. Nice and musky like a good Belgian beer should be. Tastes a little similar to Three Philosophers. Looks absolutely perfect for the style. One of my favorite Unibroue brews for sure. TomDecapolis (3127), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 1, 2008 Sample at PCBF 08. Pours a brownish amber with a medium creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, candy notes, caramel, Belgian yeast esters, toasted malt and tropical fruits. Flavor was much of the same. A little on the sweet side. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Feb 17, 2008 Thanks to ilovedarkbeer for this one. Aroma is a bit understated with some alcohol and candied fruits. Frothy, off-white head with good lacing and some retention. Orangy brown in color. Taste is nice, a bit spicey and yeasty on the finish. Dry mouthfeel and a bit overcarbonated. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Feb 17, 2008 This beer was defintily in its prime. Pours an orange brown color with a nice fluffy white head on top. Nose is of fruit, sugar, and some nice spices. Also huge brown sugar notes. Taste is about the same as it smells. Nice sweet, spicy, peppery finish. Great beer. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Feb 15, 2008 750 ml bottle. Lots of sweet aromas. Sugar and brown sugar. Flavors were spice, and more sweet fruity flavors. Peppery on the finish with not much alcohol. Pretty good.
