DeputyAndy (60), New Jersey, USA Sep 18, 2009 Pours a frothy iced tea brown. The nose is sweet and malty but faint (think it might be my glassware). Very deep sweetness flavor balanced with a strong malt balance. Not as carbonated as most Unibroue ales (on lees). Very smooth delicious finish. A very good brew. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Sep 18, 2009 Bottle from Draegers - Blackhawk. Pours dark copper with white head. Aroma of guava and candi sugar. Flavor is sweet - way too sweet. My first comment was "tastes like maple syrup!" The aroma is tinny but hoppy. The flavor is all sugar though. jeremytoni (1070), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Sep 17, 2009 From a bottle poured a brown/orange color with a small head. Strong spicy maltl flavor with lingering aftertaste. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Sep 16, 2009 Sampled at Bruegala. Cloudy amber orange in color with a spare, fizzy white head. Nice aroma of green grape and brown sugar has subtle hints of cardboard (showing it’s age a bit?). Moderate-to-heavy sweetness and very lightly acidic - I pick up a ton of bing cherries. Medium bodied with a somewhat oily texture. Very nice. Defreni (994), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 5, 2009 Flaske: Flot let lys rødbrun øl med et godt tæt skum. Klassisk unibrou i duft og også i smag. Desværre er der en tand for megen alkohol i smagen til at den er rigtig god. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2009 Had this awhile back while visiting Chicago, but drank it in a hotel and somehow lost my tasting notes, so just jotted down a number when I got home. BarossaLuke (88), Australia Aug 10, 2009 A beautiful beer, lighter in body than the 17, but some real spiciness to it. I could drink this beer all day but the 10% alcohol does creep up on you. Gypsy19 (603), California, USA Aug 5, 2009 750-milliliter bottle from Bottle Trek. Pours a cloudy orange marmalade/light brown color with a healthy head at first that reduces quickly to a film. Aroma is biscuity, and of apricot, other light fruit and cream. Slightly floral aroma. Flavor is intially metallic, then better with yeast, bread, generic fruitiness, spice, and floral flavors. This is noticeably better than the 17 I had recently. Viscosity/mouthfeel was a little thin for this style, but not terribly so. Enjoyable. Perhaps I’ll have again sometime. Overall, very good plus.
