4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 TheElder (49) - DeSoto, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 29, 2008
When I poured this bottle I noticed that it was a cloudy orange. As for head retention, it never goes away. Frothy creamy, beige head. This is my favorite BSA so far. Palate is everywhere and I get sweet, metal, then... wow! Corn silage lightly afterwards.

My favorite unibroue thus far. Seems all around more complex than other unibroue i have tried. The aroma on this one is provocative. The appearance is remarkable. I could just stare at this one for minutes at a time. The head is very long lasting with good lacing. The flavor is interesting it triggers all over the palate with fruit and yeast and alcohol and bitterness. I personally do not care for metallic flavored beers, and this is one. However this one is pleasant enough. Overall I was very happy with this one, definitely a session beer, although with 10% alc./vol. it would be a short session.

Sample at Aarhus beerfestival. Nice head with ok duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are sweet, fruits and yeast. Vinous beer.

Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a deep amber brown color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is dark fruit, caramel, yeast and spices. A medium to full bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, lots of dark fruit flavors. The hops are earthy. Nice smooth malty BSA from Unibroue. I would expect nothing less. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. The aftertaste is slightly sweet and spicy.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 IPALover (63) - Carlsbad, California, USA - MAY 25, 2008
Very light aroma with a nice dry somewhat hoppy taste. The main distinguishing feature of the taste is its amazing smoothness despite being 10%. The primary taste is a very dry with light hops and a big malt (not sweet) backbone. I suspect this has a very low final gravity thus resulting in the dryness.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 caesar (3722) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2008
Bottle @ Aarhus beerfestival 2008. Clear orange color. Again strong barley wine like aroma and taste. Sugary and strong malty.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 nickspies (78) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - MAY 22, 2008
2008-Apr-25 from a 750 ml bottle (1 year and 5 months old). Some spice, ripe fruit, and sugar in the aroma. Dark orange and cloudy. The flavor was sour, sweet, and dry with some hops. Fizzy with a medium body.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Pyrozoid (352) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 22, 2008
