Split 750ml at Collins Pub. Dark amber with medium head. Strong maple aroma. Dark fruit taste mostly dominates, but gives way to more sweetness at the finish. Very subtle beer that sneaks up on you with the alcohol.

Bouteille 750ml.

Poured a cloudy dark orange color with good head. Aroma was of oranges and coriander and yeast. Flavor was overwelmed by spices and their own yeast some pepper much of the flaovrs you could get cause of the spicing.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2007 Bottle from Frugal McDugal in Nashville, TN. Pours a hazy copper with a nice dense frothy beige head. Wonderful aroma of honey, pear, flower petals, lemon, and belgian yeast. Medium bodied with soft texture and fine carbonation. Initial flavor is sweet, with flavors of banana, lemon, honey, and hard candy. Mid palate becomes more toasty with a hint of cinnamon. Moderate white pepper-like spicy finish, with the alcohol hidden remarkably well. This should age nicely. I think I need to pick up another. The favorite of the tasting with my Father-in-law.

This is just what they say it is, a high quality Belgian strong ale that is made in Canada, the best of their anniversary beers so far.

THOUGTHS: Just like most Unies, but a little more malty. One of the better Unies I think. This just got better and better as it warmed. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark, clear amber with great looking carbonation and an average, slightly off-white head that mostly diminished but left fair lacing. The aroma was light malt, moderate yeast and alcohol, lots of spices and some fruitiness. The initial flavor was light sweetness, and bitternes and moderate acidity, while the finish was heavily sweet and lightly acidic and bitter with an average duration. The dominiate flavers were caramel, various spice and maybe some brown sugar. The medium body was slightly syrupy with very fizzy carbonation and an astringent finish.

Classic Belgian ale taste. Just the right caramel. Light. I love Unibroue’s stuff.
