sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 20, 2007 Sampled from a 750ml bottle. Honet gold hued. Off-white head. Floral perfumy nose. Slightly earthy with a biscuit touch. Mild and smooth. Nice burn. So easy! Great edition. Honey smooth with mild effervescence. Fruity. Good. Leaves a bitter almost acidic finish. Coating brew. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Jun 20, 2007 Pours with an amber body with orange accents topped by a thick head with some lacing left behind. It’s slightly sour with an underlying sweetness, some malt notes, a hint of banana and lots of clovy, yeasty notes. Medium bodied, smooth and a bit dry. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jun 19, 2007 Pours opaque copper orange, with a yellow hue, and a large light tan head. Strong fruity aroma with hints of caramelized banana and some tropical notes, alcohol is slightly noted under some sweet.candy sugar, and some spicy yeast. Caramelized bananas hit the palate immediately, followed a brief slight fruity tartness, some brown sugar, a bit of hop bitterness in there, nice big spicy yeast in the finish, and a warming note of alcohol. Palate is medium, effervescent, spicy, and a bit sticky. Definitely Unibroue, delicious, and worth a try. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Jun 19, 2007 750 mL bottle purchased from BevMo in Natomas, CA. Yeasty aroma with some banana notes. Dry, dusty, earthy, dirt-like aroma with some hints of leather, too. Ethanol is present retronasally. An odd aroma. Mildly hazy ruddy-orange amber body with a large frothy khaki-colored head. Dissipates relatively quickly. Fruity, tart, lightly sweet flavors to start. Mild roasty banana notes follow in the middle. Fruity, estery, lightly-hopped finish. Ethanol is hidden quite well for being such a big beer. This is rather different, but it is ok. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 18, 2007 750ml bottle Medium amber in color good lacing on the glass. Very nice aroma! This one is slightly sweet and somewhat fruity. A bit more carbonation then I would like but pretty tasty. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 18, 2007 Updated: Jun 19, 2007Picked up a bottle @ Roger Wilco in Pennsauken, NJ for about nine bucks. Sweet fruit aroma, deep copper body, and pillow head. This could be the smoothest 10% ABV ale I’ve had yet. Went well with tomato and mozzarella salad. I’m going to pick-up another bottle of Unibroue 16 and cellar it. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2007 Bottle Pours a deep copper color with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, cloves, raisins and light fruitiness. Flavor of sweet caramel, brown sugar, earty notes and soft spices with a light bitterness in the finish Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 14, 2007 0.75L caged corked bottle popped open with an assertive burst and poured out clear copper with an orange-ish hue. The head had some volume to it and the tan colored foam dissipated in a couple of minutes to pretty much nothing. The aroma seems fruity up front with cantaloupe and sweet sugary apples. There’s also some spiciness, candi sugar and hints of yeasty funk. With a deep draw I seem to be smelling freshly cut wood products. Hmm. The taste is very much like the aroma and punctuated by a vibrant level of carbonation. There is a sturdy level of fruitiness coming from cantaloupe, sweet apples and sugar coated apricots. Then hints of spiciness are noticed along with sweet candi sugar. As the beer warmed a yeasty and slightly funky flavor grew in intensity. Very enjoyable product.
