whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2007 Hazy amber body with a somewhat loose, frothy and fully fading off-white head. Nice aroma of caramelized malt and sugar with hints of clove, fruit peels and spice. Medium sweet with some nice fruity malt characters and a good yeast profile. Solid and pleasing sipper. Best Unibroue anniversary beer in a while.
frink (467), coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada Jun 9, 2007 Orange brown pour with a thick tan head.Unibroue yeast aroma, and spicy as well. Medium sweet/ spicy flavour, kind of "Maudite" like. The malt begins to show as it warms and the carbonation settles down, nice thick mouthfeel. A fairly good B.S.A. but maybe Unibroue could try other styles of belgian beers. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Jun 8, 2007 Pours brown with a sweet fruit aroma.Flavor was doughy and dark fruit sweet.Had a small kick on the finish. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA Jun 7, 2007 Pours a dark brown, has great lacing. Hints of dark fruits, a lot of spice, and yeast. Finishes sweet and spicy on the tongue. wildchefbill (244), Sarasota, Florida, USA Jun 6, 2007 Big malty chewy beer. Strong aroma of yeast, toasty dried fruit. Flavor is also malty with a strong yeast and dried apricot flavor. The alcohol cuts the sweetness and balances the mouthfeel nicely. Nice fat finish. Better than 15, better than most. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Jun 6, 2007 One of Unibroue’s best beers. This starts with the house character, but there is something extra. The aroma is clearly Belgian, with yeast and lots of spice, some fruit, maybe apple. A cloudy red color. Good body. The alcohol is hidden, rather than dominant like in so many Unibroue beers. Sweet, fruit finish. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 5, 2007 Strong musty fruitiness suggests pineapples, plums, cherries, mixed citrus with plenty of spicy character from the yeast and an underlying candy-like sweetness. Hazy, deep golden-tan coloured body is topped by a generous and fine bubbled, fizzy and long lasting head that coats the glass with meringue-like lacing. Pleasantly complex flavour offers sweet fruits as suggested by the aroma. Alcohol makes occasional appearances and spices are lingering in the aftertaste. Bitterness is just strong enough to take the edge off and bring it back from the edge of becoming cloying. Medium body with very assertive but soothingly soft-bubbled effervescence that opens the taste buds. Mild alcohol warming. Welcome back Unibroue! Best new beer since the take over perhaps? Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Brewery Creek, May-07). robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 5, 2007 750ml bought at Metro Joanette in Verdun.
dark orange color, huge head, wonderful lacing. Aroma is spicy with loads of ripe fruit, especially apples, and cherries. Flavour is complex. Lots of fruitiness, apples, cherries, plum, and the ever present unibroue yeast profile. Finish is quite dry with a little hop bitterness with a very very nice cherry aftertaste. superb beer.
