The sweetness and bitterness did not complement each other well, but instead worked together in creating abhorrence. Despite the intensity of this beer, there was not really any stand out malt or yeast flavor. Lively mouthfeel. All around harsh. Yeast definitely contributed to the harsh kick. Pours a hazy apricot colour with a dense, creamy beige head that retains well, fading to a solid cap. The nose is pleasantly fruity with notes of tropical fruits, orange cream, mild pepper, tobacco, coriander and loads of other sweet esters. The flavour is of zesty citrus, peppery spice, soft honey, tropical fruits, caramel, raisins and aromatic saaz. The mouthfeel is creamy, full and the finish is warming and long. This is just another brilliant Belgian interpretation from an amazing brewery. Very complex and worth every penny. Chia (42), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA

Assertive spicy tobacco orange yeasty aroma. Honey orange fruity sweetness with medium tobacco spicy bitterness and lingering (but not unpleasant for a change) spice. Very slightly medicinal in the finish. Medium-full body and medium carbo. Very nice mouthfeel, especially for a Unibroue. Extremely complex and satisfying. One of their best. tarheels86 (732), Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2008 750 mL bottle. Pours a dark, cloudy gold- almost brown. High carbonation. Great lacing. Nose is citrus, dark fruits, alcohol, mild hops. Taste is slightly sour and a little off-balanced between the sugary malt and hops. Lots of spice emerging as well. Some warming alcohol and hops bitterness to finish. I should have let this one sit around for awhile to mature. Right now it is pulling me in all sorts of directions. But still a joy to drink! bonbright7 (173), Bellport, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2008 This big orange and gold ale burst forward in my glass with a sweet malt countered by a slick amount of alcohol. The hops are also present in a passing manner while the previously mentioned fruit bubbles over with every taste. jmm635 (256), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Pours a nice brown with a long lasting white head. Aromas of malts and citrus, but hard to pick out anything in particular. Same with the taste. Mostly malty but no other flavors stand out. Drinkable, but very little finish. I was expecting better.
