UPDATED: MAR 21, 2010 Deep ruby, a bit cloudy; a thin sticky head laces nicely. Nose is incredibly deep; keeps on developing new nuances. Rich ripe fruits, a hint of toast and herbs (I get mint, tarragon and pepper), and yeast, all wrapped in a powerful Unibroue flavor. Taste is somewhat sweet but not overpowering (unless you sacrilegiously try to guzzle it); sticky mouthfeel that seems to clean the mouth. Long aftertaste is very pleasant; right now I’m tasting caves and apples. Excellent.

Bottle. Split this amazing brew with James and Dallas. Pours hazy brown with an off-white head. Gorgeous appearance. Aroma of raisins. spice, and roasted malt. Full, crisp body with an outrageously smooth finish. Excellent brew.

Bottle. Pours a dark, hazy orange body with small white head. The aroma is sweet malt and dark fruit. The flavor is great. Sweetness complemented with malt, spice, and a prune/raisin flavor. GREAT Beer.

Pours a frothy iced tea brown. The nose is sweet and malty but faint (think it might be my glassware). Very deep sweetness flavor balanced with a strong malt balance. Not as carbonated as most Unibroue ales (on lees). Very smooth delicious finish. A very good brew.

Bottle from Draegers - Blackhawk. Pours dark copper with white head. Aroma of guava and candi sugar. Flavor is sweet - way too sweet. My first comment was "tastes like maple syrup!" The aroma is tinny but hoppy. The flavor is all sugar though.

From a bottle poured a brown/orange color with a small head. Strong spicy maltl flavor with lingering aftertaste.

Sampled at Bruegala. Cloudy amber orange in color with a spare, fizzy white head. Nice aroma of green grape and brown sugar has subtle hints of cardboard (showing it’s age a bit?). Moderate-to-heavy sweetness and very lightly acidic - I pick up a ton of bing cherries. Medium bodied with a somewhat oily texture. Very nice.
