Dark brown body with ruby tinges and a light tan head. Some cherry on the nose but notice it more in the taste, brown sugar making it a touch heavy, other spices and dried fruit. Drinks alright but didn’t really turn me on.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a cloudy copper brown with a lasting amber head and good lacing. Aromas of cherry, plum, carmel, brown sugar and spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly warming finish. Flavors of cherry, plum, carmel, brown sugar and light spice with a smooth lightly warming lightly sweet finish.

Bottle. Clean brown with lacing and a thick film of bubbles. Nose-banana, clove, Belgian yeast. Taste-candies banana, brown sugar, cigarette smoke aftertaste, alcohol burn, grape, sticky raisin. The yeast strain is very very Belgian. Overly sweet, brown sugar, fig, sweet dark fruit. Yeast really takes center stage with the candied banana. Decent, but a little too sweet.

Brown pour with red highlights and a foamy white head. Aroma contained brown sugar and cherries. The flavor was rich dark cherries and other fruit, some toasty brown sugar and a hint of chocolate. Another good offering from Unibroue.

Reviewed 1/20/2009 (bottle dated December 2010): Pours a very dark brown reddish colored body with a foamy, off-white head, average size and lasting. Very fruity, dark fruit aroma. Some hops, and alcohol. Berries, and maybe some sweet honey too. Very flowery aroma. Flowery taste, somewhat fizzy, somewhat creamy palate. Dark fruit. Pretty clean aftertaste. Fig and some alcohol. Very floral on the breath, and the aftertaste. Some sweet spiciness in the taste too. Almost sickly sweet.

A delicious spicy beer only offset by the smell of oysters and not very inspiring brown color. Spices are very strong, coriander, thyme, none of the sweet stuff. I could imagine drinking this with a shrimp cocktail. $10 at Crown. I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t finish it. Not my cup of tea, or more likely, not my cup of fish oil.
