Pretty heavy on the malt for the taste, with hints of spice, as expected. BOLTZ7555 (1087), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Dirty Mississippi mud in color with a climbing tan foam head. Aroma is dark fruit, cherry skin, brown sugar, toffee, and oak. The flavors of vanilla, molasses, caramel, and spice have melded well and hide the 10% ABV remarkably well. This is a very well put together, highly drinkable brew. Grab one if you can!!! hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Bottle... Murky caramel-colored ale with a large, frothy, khaki head. Excellent, small, creamy, mushroom cloud-like retention. Weeping lacework. The complex aroma can be described using all these words: vinous, woodsy, acidic, earthy, malty, herbal, spicy, Flemish, perfumey, praline and dark fruits. Throw all those against a wall and they’ll stick. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Sweet; but sufficiently bitter and tart to maintain balance. Woodsy, funky and Flemish. Lengthy, moderately sweet finish. Strykzone (1475), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Wood flavor with yeast and coconut(?), wood, and vanilla. Nicely complex and some super spice flavors. Did not expect coconut. Pleasant zest. Almost with the best of its breed. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Courtesy of oh6gdx. It’s red-brown with a creamy head. The aroma is rather complex with notes of spice, oak, vanilla and pumpkin. The flavour has sweetness and notes of alcohol, vanilla, oak, spice, caramel, raisin and pumpkin. It’s complex, but needs maturing to develop the full potential. amishcaravan (237), Winona, Minnesota, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2008 Updated: Oct 21, 2008Aroma: sourish, yeast, coriander, citrus, cranberries, caramelt malt, darker malt, vanilla, coconut... Vinous, mint... armagnac... butter flavoured popcorns.
Flavour: sweetish, powerful, mild rowanberry, malty, yeasty. This is great. Vaguely of saffron (semi-bitter). Roasted apple lingers throughout. Green grapes. A bit too mild & sweet to score higher.
Palate: soft, fizzy as usual (with Unibroue) - though not overpowering.
Appearance: slightly murky deep red copper body w/ frothy yellowish beige head leaving rustic lacing.
