Bottled. Hazy reddish brown colour with a rich fluffy off-white foam. Yeasty and rather spicy aroma of fudge, caramel and prunes. Full-bodied with notes of spices, yeast, figs, raisins, fudge, anise and peppery alcohol. Figs, yeast, burnt sugar, fudge and alcohol in the long aftertaste.

Exactly what I’ve come to expect from Unibroue. Strong, malty, spicy, yeasty, slightly fruity, somewhat bitter, and just of a hint of sourness in the finish. Fairly complex and well balanced.

750ml bottle.
Dark and hazy burgundy beer with a toasty cream coloured head. Sweet smell of yeast, fruit, licorice and a hint of alcohol. Medium body with soft carbonation. Spicy flavour on a good malty base, finishing a little sour with a hint of alcohol. Good stuff.

Pours cloudy brown with an off-white, slightly rocky head. Aroma is yeast, sweet dark fruits, and spice. Body is medium with mild carbonation. Flavor is smooth, with spice and strong undertone of something I can’t put my finger on. Slightly sour finish. Good.

I recognize that this is a high-quality beer, but for me the aftertaste of sparklers/fireworks was so overwhelming that I could barely drink it. I prefer other Unibroue selections.

Bottled. Pours mahogany with a frothy light tan head. Aromas of plums, cherrys and caramel. Flavors similar, but with bite from the alcohol, which surprisingly does not overpower the beer.I have never had a bad beer from these guys, and this one is no different.
